Elton John and Brandi Carlile are joining forces on their fresh collaboration titled, “Who Dares to Believe in Angels?“.
The upcoming album, containing ten tracks as listed below, is scheduled for release on April 4 through Interscope Records. According to a press statement, the duo challenged each other to compose and record an entirely new album in only twenty days, stepping out of their usual creative boundaries. Additionally, they introduced their latest single, titled “Who Believes In Angels?”, on Wednesday.
John expresses that creating this album was among the hardest tasks he’s encountered yet, but simultaneously one of the most exhilarating musical journeys of his life. He describes it as a space where he can confidently advance, and he likens it to stepping into another epoch, eagerly opening the door towards the future. Everything that came before is behind him now, a glorious, incredible chapter. However, this album marks a fresh beginning for him – a new phase in his career.
John reveals that the creation of this record was incredibly challenging and yet an extraordinarily fulfilling musical adventure. He sees it as a launchpad to move forward, and he feels like it’s ushering him into another era, ready to push open the door towards the future. All that he has accomplished so far is part of his past, but this album signifies a significant new chapter in his career – essentially, the second act of his professional journey.
Beyond just teaming up with John and Carlile, Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Andrew Watt, as well as my long-time partner Bernie Taupin, lent their talents to this project. To top it off, music legends like Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pino Palladino known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan, and David Gilmour, and Josh Klinghoffer of Pearl Jam and Beck joined forces with us on this album.
Carlile expresses, “I’m still amazed that I had the opportunity to do it. I believe that all projects elevate when Elton John sets his standards for songwriting, and the experience of working in such an environment was both demanding and inspiring, with everyone contributing ideas and listening to each other’s suggestions. It felt like being part of a family. The world is a challenging place to reside in currently. It can be difficult to find tranquility and victory. Pursuing joyful and exhilarating experiences is a daring act. And that is what this album signifies to me.
On Wednesday, a brief movie documenting the creation of “Who Believes In Angels?” was unveiled as well. This is the first occasion where John granted access for cameras during his writing and recording phases, resulting in the film showcasing countless hours of genuine behind-the-scenes studio footage.
If you pre-order the album, you’ll have a special chance to purchase tickets for “An Evening with Elton John & Brandi Carlile” at The London Palladium on March 26. This unique event offers a performance and storytelling session by the duo, happening only once.
