‘Emily in Paris’ Team on Going to Italy in Season 4: “It Was Like Starting Something Fresh”

As a seasoned gamer of binge-watching shows, let me tell you, Emily in Paris just leveled up! The tantalizing teaser of Emily’s Italian escapade has me more excited than when I found that rare loot box in World of Warcraft.

In the fourth season, Emily in Paris expands past the City of Light, with the main character, Emily, traveling to Rome for a portion of the series.

The fourth season, divided into two parts, has begun streaming with the first half, while the second half is set to arrive on September 12. This part of the story follows Emily’s (portrayed by Lily Collins) complex romantic situation involving Gabriel (performed by Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (played by Lucien Laviscount). In the upcoming episodes, Emily embarks on a journey to Italy.

Collins shared with The Hollywood Reporter at the L.A. premiere on Wednesday: “Spending time in Rome was absolutely fantastic, it was an ideal conclusion to our season with the team as it felt like a vacation. The atmosphere there is incredibly inviting and rich in history, the city’s streets are filled with tales of the past, and the cuisine is simply delightful.” Collins added that transitioning from Paris to Rome was wonderful because “you’re still immersed in European charm and romance, but you’re exploring a distinct slice of history which made it all the more enjoyable.”

Darren Star, the show’s producer, mentioned that after shooting the initial episodes of the season in chilly Paris during winter, “Upon arrival in Rome, it felt like the sun was shining anew. The entire atmosphere was different, almost as if we were embarking on a fresh beginning. It seemed to revitalize everyone involved.” Park, who portrays Mindy, Emily’s best friend, and is on a quest for Eurovision, also shared, “I indulged in plenty of pasta during my stay.”

Regarding the duration of the series chronicling Emily’s adventures in Paris, executive producer Andrew Fleming hinted, “Ideally, I’d prefer 87 seasons, honestly, but ultimately, the decision lies with Netflix.”

Emily in Paris part one is now streaming.
