Emmy, Tony, and BAFTA Winners Join ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 4 with Jeremy Renner

Deadline reports that some highly-acclaimed actors are set to join the cast of Mayor of Kingstown‘s fourth season on Paramount+. These include Emmy winner Edie Falco, Tony winner Laura Benanti, and BAFTA winner Lennie James. The series is headlined by Academy Award Nominee Jeremy Renner. Created by Taylor Sheridan for the streaming service, Mayor of Kingstown focuses on the McLusky family, who control Kingstown, MI’s incarceration industry through under-the-table deals and power struggles, both within and outside the prison walls.

Falco is set to star in the TV series “Mayor of Kingstown” as Nina Hobbs, a character who will take on the role of Anchor Bay’s new prison warden. In a significant storyline spanning the entire season, James will portray Frank Moses, a powerful and recognized gangster from Detroit, Michigan, and beyond. Benanti has also been cast in another series regular role as Cindy Stephens, a correctional officer who is new to Kingstown. The rest of the ensemble includes Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky, Emma Laird as Iris, Hugh Dillon as Ian, Derek Webster as Stevie, Hamish Allan-Headley as Robert, Nishi Munshi as Tracy, and Aidan Gillen as Milo Sunter.

In an unexpected shift, the third installment of the series took a different rhythm, partly because Jeremy Renner had recently survived a near-fatal snow plow accident. Renner has mentioned that filming the third season was physically demanding, given his body’s prior traumatic experience. Therefore, it will be intriguing to observe how he handles his role in the show during its fourth season.

The New Additions To ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Are No Strangers to Stressful Series

The actors joining Season 4 of our Paramount+ original series have some challenging roles ahead, but luckily they’re not green to handling intense, high-pressure shows. Notably, Falco, who was recently in the 2023 comedy “I’ll Be Right There” and will reprise her character General Frances Ardmore in “Avatar: Fire and Ash”, is most recognized for her portrayal of Carmela Soprano in HBO’s “The Sopranos”. As Tony Soprano’s wife, Falco showcased profound and moving acting skills, making her a fitting choice for the ruthless environment of Kingstown.

Apart from being widely recognized for his movie roles, James is also famously known for his television performances. He skillfully portrayed Morgan Jones on The Walking Dead, a series where he appeared as one of the initial survivors Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) encountered. Later, James took center stage in the spinoff Fear the Walking Dead, which concluded with Season 8 in 2023. Throughout these performances, James has demonstrated an impressive range, playing Morgan Jones in different psychological states – from being highly disturbed to adopting a peaceful demeanor. This versatility should enable him to deliver a complex and powerful portrayal of a criminal character in future roles.

The upcoming Season 4 of “Mayor of Kingstown” promises an exhilarating chapter in this series. Fingers crossed it continues with the same high-quality storytelling that Season 3 enjoyed, garnering far more favorable reviews compared to the initial two seasons. Talented actors like Falco, James, and Benanti are poised to make a lasting impact on the expansive crime saga, as the pressures mount not only for the McLusky clan but also for Mike, portrayed by Renner.
