In a critical situation where he was about to lose both his wife and his position as sheriff, hard-nosed lawman John Dorsey is forced into an uneasy alliance with the aggressive U.S. Marshal Butch Hayden, in order to capture outlaw Emily Rusk. A power struggle unfolds as Emily manages to turn the posse against themselves. However, as her violent husband and his gang draw near, Emily and John come to understand that they must rely on each other to stay alive.

Westerns of 2025
2025 kicked off fiercely as Netflix debuted the intense Western saga, American Primeval. Following this explosive start, television has welcomed back Taylor Sheridan’s prequel to Yellowstone, titled 1923 in its second season; brought Billy the Kid back for a final hurrah on MGM+ with Season 3; and increased the episodes for Dark Winds to an extended eight-part third season. Netflix viewers can expect their own version of the Yellowstone drama with the upcoming series, Ransom Canyon, starring Josh Duhamel in a tale that mirrors the original — a landowner facing personal, financial, and romantic struggles alongside his family and surrounding communities.
Currently showing on the large screen is the newly released movie “Guns of Redemption,” as well as its director’s upcoming Western titled “Gunslingers,” featuring Nicolas Cage and Stephen Dorff. They play two of several characters competing for a substantial bounty in a town named Redemption. In line, you can expect the next episode of Kevin Costner’s saga, “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2,” and a dramatic film about bull-riding starring Neal McDonough called “The Last Rodeo.
In the interim, a much-awaited series titled “The Abandons” from Netflix is on the horizon. Created by Kurt Sutter, who brought us “Sons of Anarchy,” and featuring stars such as Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey, this production promises an intriguing plot. As described by Netflix, “The Abandons” follows a group of diverse outlaw families living on the edge of society in 1850s Oregon. These troubled individuals join forces to combat corrupt powers and do whatever it takes to protect their land. This western series delves into the tenuous boundary between survival and law, the repercussions of violence, and the destructive influence of secrets as this makeshift family struggles to hold onto what’s rightfully theirs. Meanwhile, another notable release is set for March 28, 2025: “Day of Reckoning“.
