Epic Universe Presents A Harry Potter-Related Conundrum, And I’m Interested To See If Universal Orlando Does Something About It

As a seasoned Universal Orlando enthusiast with countless hours spent traversing the magical realms of Hogwarts and beyond, I must admit that the prospect of Epic Universe has left me both exhilarated and curious. The tantalizing glimpses of its offerings have certainly whet my appetite for adventure, but one question continues to gnaw at the back of my mind: will we be able to hop aboard the Hogwarts Express for a magical journey to this new land?

I’m really looking forward to catching a glimpse of Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universe, set to debut next May. Although they’ve given us tantalizing glimpses through concept art and engaging social media content, as well as a life-size model at CityWalk, there are still lots of unanswered questions about what we can expect. One question that’s been on my mind specifically revolves around the Ministry of Magic in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter section. Some answers may not come until the park opens, or even later, but I can’t wait to find out more!

It pertains more specifically to travel arrangements within the parks, particularly concerning the Hogwarts Express, as suggested by the fans’ discussions.

Will The Hogwarts Express Go To Epic Universe?

Among the top picks for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure attractions is the Hogwarts Express, a unique mode of transport for those with a two-park ticket. Instead of walking through CityWalk to get from one park to another, you can hop on this train instead! It’s enjoyable, expertly themed, air-conditioned for comfort, usually fast, and adds a relaxing touch to the entire journey.

In contrast, it’s highly unlikely that the Epic Universe will link up with the Hogwarts Express train. The themes at the British Ministry of Magic and the way the train operates are distinct. You might recall that the Hogwarts Express travels between King’s Cross Station and Hogsmeade in a back-and-forth manner on a single track, rather than making a loop. Adding another stop to this route seems unlikely, especially considering where Epic Universe is located.

One Other Big Difference About Epic Universe

In the video showcasing the Ministry of Magic section inspired by “Fantastic Beasts” within Epic Universe, viewers were treated to a glimpse of the floo network mentioned frequently in J.K. Rowling’s novels. This system will enable guests to virtually travel from London to Paris as part of the new Harry Potter experience. Some fans speculate if this could potentially link Epic Universe with the other two parks in some manner or form.

The issue is that the newly constructed park isn’t linked to the other two parks in the same manner. In fact, it’s situated on the opposite side of the Universal campus, approximately 10-15 minutes away from CityWalk. While Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios are connected via a walkable shopping and dining area, this new park will not share that convenience.

It seems likely that the theme park will continue using buses to travel between various Loews hotels and the parks, which some fans have suggested could potentially include unique options like a Harry Potter-inspired Knight Bus or a train themed after Nintendo (a part of Epic Universe). While Universal already operates its own bus services, creative fans have proposed alternative transportation methods such as linking the parks via a new Nintendo-themed train, similar to what was done for Super Nintendo World in Japan.

While I’m eagerly anticipating the grand opening of Epic Universe on May 22, 2025, I can’t help but harbor doubts that The Battle at the Ministry of Magic and other exciting additions will be unveiled simultaneously. Though there’s been a whirlwind of speculation about these magical expansions, it appears that for now, the new park will operate independently from its counterparts. However, I remain hopeful that as time goes by, we might see some enchanting connections between the parks. For now, though, we must wait and see, keeping our wands at the ready!
