Eric Dane has revealed he’s been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

As a gamer, I’ve got some news to share – I’ve just received a diagnosis of ALS. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but I’m thankful to have my beloved family standing by my side as we embark on this new journey together. We’ll face this challenge as we would in any game – with determination, courage, and a little bit of fun along the way.

Despite not revealing much about his diagnosis, the actor, who portrays Cal Jacobs, the family head in Euphoria on HBO, has informed People that he’ll be back on set next week to carry on filming for season three of the popular series.

He expressed gratitude for being able to carry on working, and he’s excited about going back to the Euphoria set next week. He politely requests that his family and him be given privacy during this period.

Apart from his role in the hit series Euphoria, Dan is widely recognized for his portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan, the charming plastic surgeon, on the popular medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, which aired for six seasons between 2006 and 2012. He has also appeared in numerous other productions such as Charmed, The Last Ship, and Kabul.

Dane shares two teenage children with his wife, Rebecca Gayheart.
