The highly anticipated second season of “Peacemaker” is set to air on August 21st, featuring both familiar faces and some fresh characters. Penned and helmed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn, the Max series continues the journey of Cena’s antihero Peacemaker (previously introduced in “The Suicide Squad”). This time, he teams up with a group of ARGUS agents to tackle conflicts using whatever methods are required.
In the upcoming season 2 of Peacemaker, it will mark the debut of Gunn’s fresh take on the DC Universe, with a host of characters from this modern era of DC comics set to make an appearance in the series (discover more about what’s coming up in Peacemaker Season 2 right here).
All the DC Characters Who Will Appear in Peacemaker Season 2
Peacemaker
Absolutely, I can’t imagine the show “Peacemaker” without its central figure, and it’s thrilling to see John Cena reprise his role as the self-assured hero, Christopher Smith, in Season 2. The narrative of “Peacemaker” wouldn’t be complete without him, and this time around, he’s navigating a new mission for ARGUS: Project Butterfly, a covert operation involving an alien species capable of inhabiting humans.
After the unveiling of his mission, Peacemaker now operates independently, open to embarking on fresh assignments (possibly even evolving into different iterations) for Season 2.
Leota Adebayo
In the TV series “Peacemaker,” a fresh character named Leota Adebayo is introduced, played by Danielle Brooks. Leota is the daughter of Amanda Waller, who leads ARGUS. Throughout Season 1, Leota and Peacemaker developed a strong bond, despite the strain caused by Amanda’s orders for Leota to implicate the Task Force X member in wrongdoing.
By the conclusion of Season 1, Adebayo unveiled her mother’s part in Project Butterfly to the public, thereby rescuing Peacemaker from an impending prison sentence.
Emilia Harcourt
In various DCU ventures, Emilia Harcourt, a government operative, has been involved – she was among the handlers for Task Force X in The Suicide Squad. In Peacemaker, Jennifer Holland’s character supported Peacemaker during the Project Butterfly mission. However, towards the end, her character sustained injuries and spent the closing scenes undergoing rehabilitation.
Since then, she has reappeared in both “Black Adam” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” carrying out assignments for Amanda Waller as part of her recruitment efforts. However, it remains uncertain whether these appearances will be revisited now that the DCU has undergone a revamp.
John Economos
In the ARGUS team, John Economos (played by Steve Agee), developed a contentious relationship and eventually formed a bond with Cena’s character’s idol. Sustaining injuries in the climactic battle against the Butterflies, John was later seen resuming his post at Belle Reve. Similar to Harcourt, John has made appearances in other DCU productions following Season 1, including the movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Vigilante
The Peacemaker frequently teams up with his friend Adrian Chase, also known as Vigilante, during their masked vigilante activities. However, this pair isn’t always the most heroic duo, as Vigilante tends to resort to extreme and merciless methods when dealing with criminals, regardless of the crime’s severity.
Following Adebayo falsely implicating both Peacemaker and Vigilante, thereby damaging their reputation, they resorted back to their previous behaviors during the final episode.
Rick Flag Sr.
In the second season of “Peacemaker,” there enters a character fans of DC comics will recognize – Rick Flag Sr., portrayed by Frank Grillo. As he takes over as director of ARGUS, he becomes Peacemaker’s superior officer, potentially causing complications for Cena’s character in the series. This is because Flag Sr.’s son was killed by Cena’s hero in “The Suicide Squad,” and now he seeks revenge.
Previously, Grillo lent his voice to Flag Senior in the series “Creature Commandos” within the DC Universe. He is soon to appear in a role for Gunn’s “Superman,” and later on, you can catch him in “Peacemaker.
Sasha Bordeaux
In the upcoming season of “Peacemaker,” we’ll see another DC character, Sasha Bordeaux, played by Sol Rodriguez. Known predominantly from her appearances in Batman stories, she is portrayed as a former secret service agent who transitioned to become a contractor within the DC Comics universe.
In the series “Peacemaker,” it’s possible that Bordeaux could follow a similar path, climbing up the ranks within the organization and potentially working closely with Maxwell Lord, much like she did in Checkmate and with Maxwell Lord. This possibility is strengthened by the news that Maxwell Lord will feature in the upcoming season of “Peacemaker.
Judomaster
Initially, Judomaster (Nhut Le) is presented as Senator Royland Goff’s personal bodyguard, later becoming a strong advocate for the Butterflies’ movement following their queen’s personal invitation. Throughout much of Peacemaker, he is imprisoned by the ARGUS team, but manages to escape and subsequently learns about the tragic end of the Butterflies.
In Season 2 of Peacemaker, it’s uncertain if Judomaster will team up with the crew or stir up further problems for them, given that his alien allies have been vanquished.
Maxwell Lord
The trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 reveals several characters from the DC Universe, including the villainous Maxwell Lord (played by Sean Gunn), who is depicted interrogating Peacemaker for a possible position within his team of heroes, known as the Justice Squad.
In the world of DC Comics, the character known as Lord is one of the significant antagonists. He’ll make his debut in James Gunn’s “Superman” in July, followed by his reappearance in “Peacemaker” Season 2 in August.
Guy Gardner
In the upcoming season 2 of “Peacemaker,” Guy Gardner, portrayed by Nathan Fillion in the Green Lantern role, is expected to make an appearance. This follows his initial introduction in “Superman.” During Peacemaker’s interview, Gardner can be seen seated on the panel, appearing less than impressed with Cena’s heroic figure.
Gardner, a human agent among many in the Green Lantern corps within the DC comic universe, possesses the powers granted by the Green Lantern power ring. It’s been announced that Fillion will portray this character, Gardner, in the upcoming television series titled Lanterns.
Hawkgirl
In the upcoming season 2 of Peacemaker, another founding member of the Justice Gang, Hawkgirl (portrayed by Isabela Merced, also known as Kendra Saunders), is set to make an appearance. She’ll be joining Smith during his interview, alongside Lord and Gardner. It remains undecided whether Hawkgirl’s scenes will occur before or after the events in Superman, as both series might be happening concurrently within the timeline following the DCU’s reboot.
Eagly
Without a doubt, the pivotal character in Peacemaker is Eagly, who serves as Smith’s faithful sidekick and confidant. This bald eagle stands by Peacemaker loyally, and occasionally proves useful in a scuffle. In fact, Eagly has garnered recognition for his role in Peacemaker, even earning himself a Funko figurine.
