The overlooked post-apocalyptic comedy adventure film “Love and Monsters,” produced by Paramount Pictures and featuring Danny from “The Maze Runner” series in the lead role, is moving to a fresh streaming platform for viewers to enjoy. In this 2020 movie, Joel, a bumbling romantic who is often out of his depth, ultimately discovers the courage and determination needed to become a hero.

This movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world where cold-blooded creatures have evolved into giant monsters after humanity was overrun. The narrative revolves around Joel Dawson, who, having lost contact with his loved ones, joined a group of survivors living underground. After a close call with death, he gathers the strength to embark on a journey across America teeming with monsters in search of his high school sweetheart.
The movie “Love and Monsters” was skillfully directed by Michael Matthews, with the script penned by Brian Duffield and Matthew Robinson. Tyler O’Brien achieved global fame through his memorable performances in well-known young adult series adaptations. Initially, he charmed audiences as Stiles Stilinski, a beloved character from the supernatural drama show Teen Wolf. Subsequently, he took on the role of Thomas in The Maze Runner film trilogy, which was inspired by James Dashner’s popular young adult dystopian sci-fi novel series. Dylan O’Brien Has Several Projects In The Works
In addition to his role, O’Brien was featured in the 2024 movie “Saturday Night” as Dan Aykroyd and as a character named Paris. Coming up next for him is an appearance playing twin roles in Lionsgate’s upcoming black comedy, titled yet unnamed, which bagged the Audience Award at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. This highly anticipated production is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on Sept. 5.
In addition to his role, O’Brien will be sharing the screen with Rachel McAdams in Sam Raimi’s forthcoming horror film. Notably, this is Raimi’s first original horror project since “Drag Me to Hell” in 2009. Scheduled for release on January 30, 2026, the movie has been characterized as a blend between Rob Reiner’s 1990 film “Misery” and Robert Zemeckis’ 2000 drama “Cast Away”.
