As a fashion enthusiast with a keen eye for cultural nuances and a heart full of admiration for designers who dare to challenge societal norms, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming ESENES x RPD Tabi release! Having been introduced to this unique footwear fusion back in 2018 during my time at Parsons School of Design, I’ve always held a soft spot for these boots.
Item Name: ESENES x RPD Tabi
Collaboratively returning after a break, ESENES Worldwide and RicePaddyDaddyy will debut a limited-edition collaboration – the ESENES x RPD Tabi, presented in an elegant black shade for the Fall/Winter 2024 season. The original design of this shoe was conceptualized back in 2018 during the designer’s time at Parsons School of Design.
In this new design, Lee combines a traditional Japanese tabi shoe with a work boot to explore racial stereotypes and cultural appropriation. This unique blend also highlights the connection between the iconic New York City work boot and the popular tabi shoes. The latest model boasts soft nubuck leather, a cushioned black collar, and a black rubber sole. The “SNS World Peace” logo graces the heels in raised detail.
