As a huge fan of anime and someone who has been following the animation industry for years, I’m beyond excited about the upcoming releases of these four fantastic series. Having grown up watching classics like “Naruto” and “One Piece,” I can appreciate the dedication and creativity that goes into producing high-quality anime.
It’s been a marvelous year for anime enthusiasts in 2024. Shows like “Demon Slayer” and “One Piece” have continued to impress with top-notch episodes. “Demon Slayer” has unveiled its fourth season and revealed plans for three movies based on the final storyline, while “One Piece” has just aired the highest-rated anime episode of the year, titled “Clash! Shanks vs. Eustass Kid.”
It’s only to be expected that “One Piece” would set new benchmarks. Yet, this year has been filled with remarkable anime debuts. In the past month, we’ve welcomed the arrivals of gems like “Oshi no Ko” and “Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest.” However, the upcoming month promises to be just as thrilling and full of surprises. Here is a list of the highly anticipated anime series set for release in August 2024.
Kimi ni Todoke Season 3

It’s been over 10 years since the release of “Kimi ni Todoke,” a stunning romantic comedy anime series that captivated audiences. Now, we’re eagerly anticipating the third season! Production I.G., known for their work on “Ultraman,” “Haikyuu!,” and “Kaiju No. 8,” is bringing this beloved show back to life. The story revolves around two people who defy the odds and find love.
At fifteen, Sawako is a high school student who is unfortunately ostracized by her classmates because of her strong resemblance to Sadako from the terrifying movie “The Ring.” However, when Kazehaya, the most popular boy in school, shows an inclination towards her, Sawako’s life undergoes a significant transformation. Their mutual attraction only intensifies this change. Starting August 1, you can stream the third season of Kimi ni Todoke on Netflix.
Delico’s Nursery

In an exciting turn of events, “Delico’s Nursery” – an upcoming anime series in the fantasy genre – is inspired by Kenichi Suemitsu’s Japanese play “Trump,” which was serialized into five manga volumes between November 2020 and December 2023 via Young Ace. Animated by J.C. Staff, this captivating story unfolds in a magical realm where the vampire race once held supreme power through their immortality. However, the reason behind their loss of dominion remains a mystery.
Today, vampires lack immortality and live as regular humans with a set lifespan, holding out hope for a change in their condition. A legend persists, though, of a vampire named the Vampire Originator who holds eternal life. Simultaneously, Dali Delico, an aristocrat from a distinguished lineage, receives instructions from his vampire governing body, Blood Pact, to execute a task. This assignment connects to Pendulum, an anti-vampire group that aims to eliminate vampires worldwide.
The voice actors who headline the anime are Satou Takaya (known as Dino Classico), Hiro Shimono (Henrique Lorca), Masakazu Morita (Dali Delico), and Katsuyuki Konishi (Gerhard Fra). Starting August 8th, you can watch Delico’s Nursery on Crunchyroll.
Rick and Morty: The Anime

Rick and Morty, which premiered in 2013, is one of the best animated sci-fi series of all time, having won two Primetime Emmys and a Critics Choice award. The franchise has now expanded into the popular anime medium with a new installment, Rick and Morty: The Anime, which is animated by Studio Deen.
In this animated show, the Smith family’s journey takes center stage. Consisting of Rick, Morty, Summer, Jerry, and Beth, they embark on exhilarating adventures through various universes. Inevitably, alternate versions of their own characters create chaos in these dimensions, forcing the Smiths to confront and resolve the ensuing issues as they hop from one reality to another. Starting August 15th, Adult Swim will premiere “Rick and Morty: The Anime” edition.
Terminator Zero

Over the past few months, three popular Western franchises have debuted their own anime shows. DC’s “Suicide Squad” joined the scene in July, followed closely by “Rick and Morty” and “Terminator” in August. Among them is “Terminator: Zero,” an eight-episode sci-fi action anime produced by Mattson Tomlin, with Production I.G. handling the animation. According to Netflix, this anime can be summarized as:
In the year 2022, a long-lasting battle between humans and machines continues. This conflict began when an artificial intelligence named Skynet became self-aware in 1997 and initiated its war against humanity. A soldier from the future has been sent back to this time to prevent this catastrophic event. She arrives in 1997, where she meets a scientist named Malcolm Lee who is working on launching a new AI system meant to rival Skynet. As Malcolm grapples with the ethical dilemmas of his creation, he’s pursued relentlessly by an assassin from the future. This relentless pursuit ultimately affects the lives of Malcolm’s three children.
In the Terminator series’ narrative, “Terminator Zero” is set to debut on Netflix, marking the anniversary of Judgment Day on August 29th. This production is deeply connected to the Terminator universe and continues the storyline initiated in “Terminator 2,” which came out 33 years prior. The talented cast includes Timothy Olyphant as The Terminator, Rosario Dawson as Kokoro, Andre Holland as Malcolm Lee, Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko, and Ann Dowd as The Prophet.
