As we eagerly count down the days to January 28, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Season 2 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone! Activision has given us a sneak peek at all the awesome content headed our way before its launch.
The second season of the game offers fresh additions for multiplayer, yet players of Warzone must wait patiently. The city of Verdansk isn’t expected until Season 3, with this season primarily focusing on enhancements rather than new additions.
In summary, here’s a rundown of what’s arriving for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Warzone, and Zombies as part of the second season.
Here’s all the new stuff coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Warzone, and Zombies during Season 2!
Black Ops 6 Season 2 Multiplayer Content
Leading the fresh offerings for Season 2 of Black Ops 6 are a total of five multiplayer maps and four distinct game modes. As is tradition, not every addition will be accessible right away, with some being introduced through the Reloaded update as the season progresses.
Below is the breakdown for each of these additions.
Maps
Initially, you’ll have access to three out of the five maps at the beginning of the season. The remaining two maps will become accessible during the course of the season. Here is a look at all five maps along with their designs.

Modes
In the upcoming Season 2 update for Black Ops 6, we’re bringing back the much-loved game mode, Gun Game, along with some fresh takes on familiar modes, not entirely new, but more like enjoyable spins on our classic offerings.
Overdrive
At the launch, Overdrive offers more than just a standard Team Deathmatch (TDM) experience, with an added layer of complexity. Instead of mere kills, you’ll earn “stars” for taking out opponents. However, not all eliminations are equal in terms of points:
– Basic eliminations will grant one star.
– Core medal eliminations such as headshots and melee attacks will net you two stars.
– Completing distinguished medal eliminations will reward you with three stars.
Arrange these stars to gain various bonuses such as wall penetration abilities, increased mobility, and enhanced precision.
Gun Game
In the world of Call of Duty gaming, I can’t imagine a title without the thrilling experience of Gun Game. This mode pits every player against each other in a free-for-all showdown. We all begin with the same starting gun, typically a pistol, and upon scoring a kill, we advance to the next weapon on a rotating cycle that ends at a powerful sniper rifle. The first gamer to cycle through 20 weapons emerges victorious.
Limited-time modes
In the middle of Season 2, Black Ops 6 will introduce two special Valentine-themed game modes that are only available for a limited time. The first one, titled “Third Wheel Gunfight,” is a team-based combat mode where you’ll be partnered with an additional, free-roaming ally. The second mode, called “Couples Dance Off,” is a 2v2 multiplayer mode that combines various game types into one exciting experience.
New Equipments
- Slipstream (Perk): Raises your base sprint speed at the cost of removing Tac Sprint.
- Hunter’s Instinct (Perk): Eliminating an enemy marks the next closest enemy. Release Mid-Season.
- Flyswatter (Wildcard): Allows a player to replace their Dedicated Melee weapon with a Launcher. Release Mid-Season.
- War Machine (Scorestreak): Powerful burst-fire grenade launcher with grenades that explode on impact. Large magazine.
Weapons
In Season 2, there are six new weapons set to debut simultaneously in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Four of these weapons have previously been revealed, while the final two remain hidden, ready for release in the upcoming Reloaded update.
- PPSh-41 (SMG) (Available On Launch)
- Cypher 091 (AR) (Available On Launch)
- Feng 82 (LMG) (Available On Launch)
- TR2 (Marksman Rifle) (Available On Launch)
QoL Changes
Challenge Tracking & Near Completion (MP and Zombies)
- Manually track up to 10 Calling Card Challenges and 10 Camo Challenges per mode to easily keep track of Challenges you’re progressing.
- If you have fewer than 10 Calling Card Challenges or 10 Camo Challenges tracked, your nearest Challenges to completion will display in those slots instead. This should help players discover and identify Challenges they are close to completing.
- The top Tracked or Near Completion Calling Card Challenge and Camo Challenge both appear in the Lobby, as well as in-game via the Options Menu.
Unique HUD Presets per mode (MP and Zombies)
- Players will be able to set the HUD Preset settings they prefer for both Multiplayer and Zombies, keeping a unique setup per-mode without needing to change settings when switching between modes.
General Quality of Life updates
- Reduced collision with teammates to improve maneuverability around tight spaces and doorways with nearby teammates.
- Weapon balance pass and bullet penetration updates.
- Further reducing weapon motion when jumping, sliding, and diving with the Dexterity Perk equipped.
- Improving player visibility in Kill Confirmed by reducing the height of dog tags on the map.
- Simplifying and/or expanding requirements for several Calling Card Challenges, as well as fixing bugged Challenges.
- Expanding the number of Featured Playlist slots to allow for more marquee playlists on the main menu.
In addition to the exciting changes coming in Season 2, I’m particularly looking forward to the upgrade in our anti-cheat system. This season has been marred by a significant amount of cheating, and it’s promising to hear that the new anti-cheat will incorporate kernel-level driver enhancements and fresh server-side safeguards. Only time will tell how impactful these improvements will be.
Warzone Season 2 Content
Although there’s a lot to explore in the multiplayer mode, the upcoming Season 2 for Warzone seems rather slim. Previously, it was made clear that the main emphasis will be on refining gameplay, incorporating enhancements for user experience, and resolving persistent issues.
Activision didn’t provide a long list of Quality of Life improvements, but they assured us that various aspects would be enhanced overall. They mentioned speeding up weapon reload and swap times, refining jump mechanics, smoother parachute transitions, and enhancing audio clarity as areas for improvement. Additionally, they plan to fix bugs related to map visibility, weapon interaction, and several perks, and make numerous adjustments to the Ranked Play mode.
Outside of these, we’re getting two perks:
- Reactive Armor (Slot 2): Your armor will regenerate up to 50% if you haven’t taken damage in the last 5 seconds.
- Low Profile (Slot 1): You are able to move more quickly while crouched and prone. Move slightly faster when downed.
Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 2 Content
In Black Ops 6, the most significant enhancement for Zombies lies in the introduction of a fresh map called “The Tomb.” Below is a brief overview of all the additional content heading to the Zombies mode, as outlined in Activision’s blog post.
- New Enemy: Shock Mimic
- Wonder Weapon: Staff of Ice
- Main Quest and Quest Rewards: The Main Quest for The Tomb goes live with Season 02. Complete it to earn the “X91 Ice-Pike” Wonder Weapon Skin — a Project Janus facsimile of the “Staff of Ice” — as well as 5,000 XP and a unique Calling Card awarded to players who complete the Main Quest before Directed Mode is released for The Tomb.
- Arrow Trap: Activate the Arrow Trap to send out darts of damaging energy from the wall.
- Aetheric Lanterns: Dark Aether chandeliers and light sources give off a pale glow over their surroundings. With the correct projectile and aiming confidence, you can use these dynamic hazards to rain down Aetheric fire, damaging anything that shambles through the flames.
- Additional Perk-a-Cola: Death Perception.
- New GobbleGums: Dead Drop (Epic), Modified Chaos (Legendary), and Quacknarok (Whimsical).
- QoL changes: Co-Op Pause, AFK Kick Loadout Recovery.
With the arrival of Season 2, Black Ops 6 and Warzone will see all the new content coming their way. Beyond this, you can anticipate the regular Battle Passes, featuring Vortex as the BlackCell Operator, along with Battle Pass Operator Nocturn.
