EXCLUSIVE: Aamir Khan has watched Govinda's Sandwich thrice, reveals director Anees Bazmee; says superstar praised actor's comic timing

As a lifestyle expert with a deep-rooted passion for cinema, I must say that the revelation of Aamir Khan appreciating Govinda’s comic timing in the 2006 film, Sandwich, is nothing short of intriguing. With my decades-long experience in the industry, I can attest to the fact that such recognition from a superstar like Aamir Khan is indeed a testament to an actor’s talent and skill. It’s akin to Michael Jordan praising LeBron James’ slam dunk – it simply highlights the respect one artist has for another.

In the 1980s, Govinda kick-started his acting journey and is now widely acclaimed as the reigning king of comedy in Hindi cinema. He is particularly recognized for his partnership with David Dhawan on movies such as Hero No.1, Coolie No.1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, among others. Recently, Director Anees Bazmee disclosed that Aamir Khan has viewed Govinda’s Sandwich not once, but three times. Anees further added that the prominent actor appreciated Govinda’s comic prowess in the 2006 film.

As a devoted admirer, I had the privilege to share an engaging conversation with filmmaker Anees Bazmee, during which he graciously discussed his upcoming directorial project, “Sandwich.” In this exclusive chat with TopMob, he fondly reminisced about a memorable encounter with none other than Aamir Khan and revealed that he’s had the pleasure of watching the Govinda-led production no less than three times!

I ran into Aamir Khan in the middle of things. I’m a big fan of his, he’s such a great person. He then said, ‘I watched your film Sandwich three times, Anees bhai. What film is that?’ I asked, ‘You’ve seen Sandwich three times?'” The director replied.

Referring back to what Aamir said, the director of Sandwich mentioned his fondness for Govinda’s comedic delivery. Additionally, Anees recalled Aamir appreciating the unique aspect of the movie featuring dual roles for the protagonist and twin characters played by two children.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 helmer concluded by saying that Sandwich was a “lovely” film.
