EXCLUSIVE: Aamir Khan is ‘Honoured’ to do Dadasaheb Phalke with Rajkumar Hirani: Says, ‘It’s drama with comedy’

Later, they officially confirmed their collaboration, revealing that the movie would be a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, and setting a release date for Christmas 2026. Recently, in an exclusive chat with TopMob, celebrating the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, we asked Aamir Khan to provide an update on his collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani.

Aamir Khan recently announced that the production of his upcoming film is set to begin in the final months of 2025, with pre-production already underway. In a recent interview, he expressed that taking on the life story of Dadasaheb Phalke, a pioneer in Indian cinema, will be an immense challenge. Unlike conventional mainstream films filled with action sequences, this film is about a man who accomplished extraordinary feats beyond what was considered possible in his time. He was daring, innovative, and brimming with life and enthusiasm for his endeavors. This biopic will chronicle one man’s adventure, which even he himself may not have anticipated. Aamir stated that it would be a significant privilege for him and Raju to bring this inspiring tale to the big screen.

In films such as “3 Idiots” and “PK,” the partnership between Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani has always included significant doses of comedy. Will humor be a part of Phalke too? Aamir replied, “I believe Raju and Abhijat (Joshi, writer) have a particular affinity for comedy, and so do I. The three of us genuinely enjoy humor. I think that’s the kind of genre Raju prefers to work in – drama with humor. So, it’s likely that this film will also fall under the same category.

Discussing Sitaare Zameen Par, this film is poised to join the Rs 100 crore club on its ninth day, indicating a triumphant theatrical run. Directed by RS Prassana, the movie will secure its position as a clear-cut hit once it surpasses the Rs 150 crore mark at the Indian Box Office, which is expected during the third weekend.
