As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinema and a deep appreciation for timeless performances, I must say that Akshay Kumar‘s choice of Padosan as his favorite comic caper is a testament to his profound understanding of the art of comedy. The veteran actor’s ability to pick out gems like Garam Masala, which he himself considers one of the most challenging films to act in due to the logistics of coordinating multiple actresses, showcases his exceptional skills and dedication.
In 2024, Akshay Kumar, known for his annual movie output, kicked off the year with the action flick “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.” Following that, he appeared in “Sarfira” alongside Radhika Madan. Now, anticipation builds as his third film of the year, titled “Khel Khel Mein,” is set for release on August 15, 2024.
Mudassar Aziz is the director of a new comedy movie, joined by actors Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal. In an exclusive interview with TopMob on August 10th, the cast shared some insights. When asked about his favorite films, Kumar singled out the 1968 musical comedy “Padosan” as his preferred choice for a laugh-out-loud experience.
When asked about a comedy movie he’d starred in, Akshay Kumar promptly pointed out Garam Masala from 2005. Explaining his choice, he shared, “I believe it was one of the hardest movies to act in for me. If you observe closely, I was breathing heavily throughout the entire scene due to the challenge of managing four girls simultaneously (Rimi Sen, Daisy Bopanna, Neetu Chandra, Nargis Bagheri). It was quite an exhausting experience.”
To this, Fardeen Khan adds, “The title says it all ‘Garam Masala.’”

It’s worth noting that Kumar’s fellow actor Vaani Kapoor is a big fan of the movie and has watched it an astonishing number of times. The whole cast had a blast reminiscing about the vibrant characters portrayed by Akshay and found the film to be incredibly enjoyable. When asked about their favorite comedies, Vaani Kapoor mentioned that she adores Hera Pheri, sharing that she used to watch Garam Masala with her father, Shiv Kapoor. She also enjoys Andaz Apna Apna and Dil Chahta Hai.
Following him was actor Fardeen Khan from Heeramandi, who shared that among all his projects, the film “No Entry” holds a special place in his heart. He explained, “This was my first dive into full-fledged comedy. It was an enriching learning experience for me.”
Speaking enthusiastically, I must confess my deep-seated love for the iconic films “Andaz Apna Apna,” “Hera Pheri,” and “No Entry.” It was an absolute thrill to have Punjabi superstar Ammy Virk join us on our chat! He too shared his fondness for Hindi cinema, particularly the hilarious Golmaal series.
