As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinematic prowess, I must say that Chiyaan Vikram is a true testament to the transformative power of passion and dedication. His life experience, spanning over three decades in the Tamil film industry, is nothing short of inspiring.
Actor Chiyaan Vikram is currently enjoying the acclaim of his latest hit movie, Thangalaan, helmed by director Pa Ranjith. With the Hindi version of the film also set for release, Vikram, actress Parvathy, and director Pa Ranjith recently shared insights in an exclusive interview with TopMob.
Inquired about his reasons behind undergoing significant physical changes for the film I, Vikram explained that it was his deep love for acting, cinema, and the desire to try something extraordinary and distinct that drove him. He added that he feels most invigorated when he gets to portray characters that are as dissimilar from his own personality as possible.
“This actor shared that they abstain from alcohol and cigarettes, but if someone asks, they say ‘life’ is their vice instead. They went on to explain that cinema gives them an exhilarating feeling, akin to being high. They also mentioned that they experience a rush when they act or do something uncharacteristic, it excites them greatly and feels like the essence of life itself.”
During the interview, Chiyaan Vikram was inquired about what brings him greater fulfillment as an actor – the acclaim or the financial success. In reply, the actor expressed that it’s not primarily about box office earnings, but rather when a film performs well and his performance is acknowledged, all his aspirations are met.
Occasionally, your work might receive praise, but if it doesn’t perform well financially, fewer people get to see it, and it often goes unnoticed. A prime example of this is my film Cobra, where I felt I delivered some exceptionally difficult scenes, particularly the one where I had to speak as other characters and synchronize my performance with theirs in a single take. This was a point I wanted to emphasize.
He also commented, “I believe that was among the hardest scenes I’ve ever performed, yet it wasn’t widely appreciated. People seemed to enjoy it, but the movie itself didn’t perform well in terms of box office success. However, a film’s success is not just measured by its ticket sales; if it is successful, it will leave an impact and be remembered.”

Additionally, the veteran actor explained that it’s quite uncommon for films to resonate with audiences due to the collective performances of the cast members. He further mentioned that people often praise elements like production value, plot, or other aspects. Moreover, he extended his appreciation towards director Pa Ranjith for assembling talented performers in the film Thangalaan.
