Nani Says That Amitabh Bachchan’s Agneepath Is What Inspired Him To Want To Be A Director
During Himesh Mankad’s Masterclass, Nani was inquired about the reasons behind his initial desire to become a film director and what motivated him to pursue this path. In response, the actor known as Hi Nanna explained that various directors inspired him at different stages of his life. However, Amitabh Bachchan was his greatest inspiration. The movie Agneepath sparked his interest in directing films. Although the film didn’t perform well upon its release, he believes it redefined heroism. Just as an actor can breathe life into a character, he explained that the conventional formula could be twisted to create an exceptionally captivating story.
Nani Describes The First Scene Of The Film He Wanted To Direct
Nani revealed details about the initial scene he intended to direct in his first film and its connection to Agneepath. He explained, “In the very first script I penned as an assistant director, a sequence I had envisioned for the opening titles took place outside a tea shop. Inside this shop, there was a TV playing, and on that screen, the Agneepath scene would unfold. The dialogue goes, ‘This is where the jungle’s law prevails, you know. A snake swallows a rat, and the snake… (the rest is a lengthy monologue). The voice gradually fades as the titles roll, but in Amitabh Bachchan’s voice. I wanted to kickstart my directorial career with such a powerful opening.” He further added that there was a significant influence from Agneepath in his aspirations.
