As a dedicated follower of captivating stories and mesmerizing performances, I eagerly await the release of Blink Twice, a psychological thriller directed by the multi-talented Zoe Kravitz. Having had the privilege to interview Naomi Ackie, who plays Frida in this film, I was intrigued by her journey into transforming into the character and the challenges she faced during filming.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and The End of the Famous World’s actress Naomi Ackie is preparing to appear on our screens once more with her upcoming film titled Blink Twice. This movie is directed by actress Zoe Kravitz, marking her first directorial project. The psychological thriller boasts a stellar cast, with Ackie and Channing Tatum in the main roles alongside an impressive ensemble.

The film narrates the story of Frida (portrayed by Ackie), a cocktail server, who unexpectedly encounters tech magnate Slater King (played by Tatum) at a charity event. This chance encounter leads to an invitation for her to spend a luxurious getaway on his private island with him and his circle of friends.

A collection of travelers enjoy the best moments of their lives, but then bizarre incidents begin unfolding. Not long after, Frida gets caught up in disturbing revelations and sets off on an adventure to expose the truth and escape safely.

EXCLUSIVE: Naomi Ackie Opens Up About Blink Twice Role And Working With Zoe Kravitz And Channing Tatum: ‘Really Special To Me’

In the trailer for Blink Twice, it seems that the movie will alternate between bright and cheerful scenes and deep, intense ones. Could you tell us about a particularly difficult scene to shoot during production, if you’re allowed to share?

There is that ONE scene that is quite horrific that was probably the hardest. And we had to prepare a lot as an ensemble… I think we were all anticipating doing it and I wanted to be as sensitive as possible but knew it had to be done to tell the story. But most of it… most of the filming experience was amazing.

The movie is a thriller, and during the climactic moments, there’s a lot of action – dashing about, if you will – which I found incredibly exhilarating. I enjoy engaging in such activities quite a bit. There’s one specific scene that was particularly tough to pull off, and viewers will soon understand why. Both Zoe (Kravitz) and I found it demanding, but we knew its inclusion was crucial for staying true to the storyline.

Do you have any thoughts or insights you’d care to mention regarding your transformation into Frida for Blink Twice? Could you tell us about your experience working on the film?

It was fantastic that Zoe and I had numerous discussions about it. Upon reading the script, I immediately felt compelled, thinking ‘This carries significance. This truly matters,’ which is crucial when selecting projects. For Frida, it was all about initiating dialogues on what it’s like to be that type of girl.

As a lifestyle expert, I understand the feeling of aimlessness and yearning for something more. It’s like being in a crowded room filled with opportunities, yet none seem to resonate with your personal growth. Your inner drive is unyielding, but channeling it into the right direction remains elusive. These universal experiences are crucial to help Frida discover her true path and unlock her potential for a fulfilling life.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve been captivated by Zoe Kravitz’s acting skills throughout the years. However, what truly intrigues me now is her directorial debut, Blink Twice. I found myself standing on the set, not just as an observer, but as someone who had the privilege of working with Zoe in her new role. The experience was enlightening and inspiring, to say the least.

Wow, it was extraordinary! It felt so effortless. However, anything that appears effortless is usually a result of extensive practice. What I admire about Zoe is her dedication to crafting this story; she spent considerable time refining every detail. By the time we were involved, she had a clear vision, which was a testament to the hard work she put in prior.

To me, she was amazing! She was dealing with the daily stresses of being a director incredibly well. But if you ask her the same thing she will be like ‘Ahh I was freaking out’ [Laughs]. I just want to see her keep climbing and keep doing it because she is really special.

What was your experience collaborating with Channing Tatum on-screen, and is there any interesting anecdote or insight you’d like to reveal about working alongside him?

It was truly a delightful experience! He’s one of the most helpful individuals I’ve collaborated with. After all this time, he remains humble, which is remarkable. Not only is he wise and witty, but also incredibly dedicated. I found myself learning from him since I’m still relatively new to this field, having been in it for about 7 years. To me, that’s still quite fresh compared to his extensive experience, so I was genuinely amazed by his expertise.

Primarily, I was astonished since I’ve never witnessed him portray a character in such a way… It felt surreal, like a dream, and I even had to check myself. As I observed the entire cast, I realized they were all exceptional. Not only did I get an opportunity to work with these talented individuals, but I also feel extremely fortunate to now consider them my friends. That’s something truly unique and meaningful to me.
