On July 18th, Yash Raj Films and Mohit Suri will debut newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda into the world of show business with their highly anticipated romantic tale titled Saiyaara. The film’s music has been generating buzz on various platforms, and the team is preparing to unveil the theatrical trailer for this intense musical love story soon. Prior to the movie’s premiere, TopMob spoke exclusively with director Mohit Suri, who shared insights about the Saiyaara script for the first time.
According to Mohit, he was initially approached by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt to develop a concept for what eventually became the movie “Saiyaara”, which was originally intended to be “Aashiqui 3”. However, due to their unpredictable friendship, they were eager to announce the project before a script was finalized. Mohit prefers working on the script first before making any official announcements.
In a swift statement, the filmmaker acknowledged that Luv Ranjan inspired him to craft this love story script and his enthusiasm grew after he watched The Romantics. “Primarily, it was Luv Ranjan who encouraged me to delve into a love story,” Mohit explained. “He motivated me to write this script, and subsequently, I noticed some action films underperforming at the box office. Then I came across The Romantics, which depicted the same era as the 80s. This sparked an idea in my mind, which I eventually transformed into a screenplay,” he concluded.
Initially, the script for what eventually became Aashiqui 2 was actually intended to be an original love story. As Saiyaara, Mohit revealed this fact. He shared that after Murder 2, he was eager to create another love story, but at the time, no one wanted to collaborate on a love story under Vishesh Films. Even Emraan Hashmi, the company’s hero, wasn’t interested. But Mohit was determined and eventually agreed to transform the script into Aashiqui 2 when Bhushan approached him with the idea. Mukesh gave him a better budget for the film under the title Aashqiui, which he accepted and went ahead with making the movie.
