As a lifestyle expert, I must say that Sunil Kumar’s journey from being a wrestler to an actor is nothing short of inspiring. His life experiences, particularly his work on Kalki 2898 AD and House Arrest, have led him to the remarkable role of Sarkata in Stree 2. It’s fascinating to see how one’s past can shape one’s future, much like a wrestler molding their body to take on new challenges.
In cinemas currently, Street 2 is breaking box office records and garnering praise for its stellar cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. However, it’s important to mention another crucial player in the film – none other than the menacing antagonist Sarkata, portrayed by wrestler-actor Sunil Kumar. In an exclusive interview with TopMob, he reminisced about landing the role for Street 2 during his work on Kalki 2898 AD.
Sunil Kumar shared some insights with us during an exclusive interview, discussing his role in the hugely successful film. He talked about the overwhelming appreciation the movie has been receiving. Sunil expressed his joy when fans express their admiration for him via phone calls and messages.
When asked about his preparation for the ghost role in the horror comedy film, Kumar shared that he had a wrestling background as there’s a wrestling company in Delhi where he used to participate. The production team reached out to them looking for taller individuals. Additionally, Kumar added that he has also featured in several advertisements for well-known brands.

Additionally, he shared that his debut web film was “House Arrest,” where he portrayed Rambo, Pinky’s bodyguard, alongside Ali Fazal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Jim Sarbh, and Barkha Singh. During this time, he was also busy with Nag Ashwin’s Telugu-language epic science fiction film titled “Kalki 2898 AD.” However, while working on that project, he received a call to join the cast of “Stree 2.”
Later on, he forwarded his resume to the team. Shortly following this, director Amar Kaushik phoned him about a trip to Mumbai. During their conversation with the filmmaker, Kumar mentioned that they measured his hands and feet right away and were immediately offered the part of Sarkata. As per Kumar’s Instagram bio, he stands at 7.7 feet in height.
In the interview, Kumar mentioned that he served as a body double for Amitabh Bachchan in the newly released film Kalki 2898 AD. He added that he spent approximately 1.5 months working alongside Amitabh Bachchan, and then worked with Prabhas for an entire month.
