As a lifestyle expert with a rich background in cinema and entertainment, I find it fascinating to delve into the creative minds of our esteemed Bollywood directors. Their choices for their dream collaborations with some of the industry’s biggest stars reveal not only their artistic visions but also their understanding of each actor’s unique talents.
2024 saw several Bollywood movies in the supernatural genre thrive. Four directors of these successful films had an exclusive chat with TopMob: Amar Kaushik (Stree 2), Anees Bazmee (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3), Vikas Bahl (Shaitaan), and Aditya Sarpotdar (Munjya). They shared their dream genres to work on with various stars. Amar Kaushik expressed his desire to direct Shah Rukh Khan in a humorous spoof of the Baadshah character, while also suggesting roles for Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.
At TopMob’s Directors Roundtable, Amar Kaushik shared his desire to create a mythological movie featuring Hrithik Roshan and a comedic film similar to Chennai Express starring Deepika Padukone. As for Akshay Kumar, Kaushik mentioned that he has previously directed him in comedy and expressed interest in collaborating with him again, potentially on an action-comedy project.
Regarding Shah Rukh Khan, Amar remarked, “I believe he could excel in a genre similar to the spoof style of his character ‘Baadshah’. It should have an element of grandeur, perhaps something along the lines of an action-packed adventure.
In the same segment, Anees Bazmee shared that he would make a comedy with Akshay Kumar, romantic film with Katrina Kaif, and an action movie with Vicky Kaushal. For Salman Khan, he said, “Salman bhai ke sath mujhe lagta hai kahaani kuch bhi, action bhi bana sakte hain, romantic bhi bana sakte hain, comedy bhi bana sakte hain (With Salman Bhai, I feel any story can be made, action, romantic or comedy).”

Aditya Sarpotdar stated that he’d be happy to direct any type of movie alongside the legendary Shah Rukh Khan, as he was asked for his preferred genre. Conversely, Varun Dhawan expressed a preference for comedies, praising Shah Rukh Khan’s humor and impeccable comic timing.
Aditya shared that working on an action movie with Ranbir Kapoor is something he’d really enjoy. He believes that Ranbir hasn’t had much opportunity to showcase his action skills yet, but when he does, it could be fantastic. As for Kiara Advani, Aditya commended her performance in Satyaprem Ki Katha. He suggested that a horror drama would be an excellent fit for her, given her ability to convey emotion so convincingly.
During his opportunity to decide, Vikas Bahl was inquired about what role he’d suggest for Aamir Khan. He expressed enthusiasm, suggesting, “I’d be thrilled to reprise Andaz Apna Apna. He ought to take on a comedic part.” Similarly, when it came to Salman, Vikas opted for comedy and stated, “An action director creates action, an actor brings comedy to life. I believe the world is missing Salman’s brand of humor.
Akshay Kumar has a knack for delivering comedy without breaking character, while Alia Bhatt, as Vikas put it, is versatile enough to handle anything. He particularly admired her role in Gully Boy and expressed his desire for her to take on a part where she’s like an undiscovered explosive talent, leaving everyone wondering about her true capabilities.
