As a devoted cinephile who has witnessed the evolution of Indian cinema, I am thrilled at the prospect of Queen 2 gracing our screens. The original film was a game-changer for Kangana Ranaut and female-led films, and its sequel promises to be another masterpiece in Vikas Bahl’s impressive portfolio.
Over time, Vikas Bahl has produced several well-loved films such as Chillar Party, Queen, Super 30, and Shaitaan, among others. These movies have resonated strongly with viewers, leading to widespread discussions about the potential expansion of the Queen series, featuring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role. Now, at the TopMob Masterclass, Vikas Bahl has revealed that a sequel to Queen is indeed being developed.
Regarding his upcoming movies, Vikas Bahl mentioned, “We’ve been developing Queen 2 for some time now, and at last, we have a solid plan in place.” Although the filmmaker remains tight-lipped about the specifics of Queen 2, he assured that the production is indeed underway. In the meantime, Vikas is currently filming a humorous adventure called Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling in Goa. This amusing tale unfolds within a middle-class family setting in Goa and boasts Jaya Bachchan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Wamiqa Gabbi as its main characters.
Vikas expressed that the cast is fantastic, featuring Siddhanth Chaturvedi, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jaya Bachchan, who hasn’t taken on such a role in quite some time. We are enjoying the filmmaking journey immensely, as about 80% of the movie has been completed. It’s an exhilarating romantic comedy. Additionally, he mentioned that there are plans for Shaitaan 2. “It deserves to be made,” he said, “but I often get sidetracked by all the fresh ideas floating around. At this moment, I am envious of those who have delved into creating a unique universe. Apart from that, I also have an action thriller on my plate. I yearn to venture into a new realm.
Discussing the Queen movie from 2013, it significantly revolutionized the industry by making female-centric slice-of-life films mainstream. Over time, this film has been recognized as one of Kangana’s finest performances, and the anticipation for a sequel is growing stronger. To delve deeper into the minds of the directors shaping 2024’s horror genre, you can watch the director roundtable featuring Amar Kaushik (Stree 2), Anees Bazmee (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4), Vikas Bahl (Shaitaan) and Aditya Sarpotdar (Munjya).
