‘Extra’ Lays Off Staffers Ahead of Season 32 (Exclusive)

Extra is undergoing some more changes as it heads into its 32nd season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the syndicated entertainment news program has decided to separate from several employees. This appears to be a regular process that happens before each new season, where they evaluate their staff organization and production methods.

It’s clear that the layoffs weren’t performance-related. Those affected are respected contributors who’ve put in a lot of effort and time to make the show thrive, but the decisions were tough ones to make. The exact number of individuals impacted remains uncertain.

Just a few days ago, we learned that Theresa Coffino, who has been with the successful daytime soap for 26 years, is leaving her position as executive producer. Now, Jeremy Spiegel takes over as executive producer and head of production for the syndicated series.

In May, I shared on my “Hot Mics” podcast that I was stepping down from my hosting position after an incredible run of five seasons.

Back in May, I announced on my “Hot Mics” podcast that I would be saying goodbye to my hosting role following a fantastic five-season tenure.

Following an incredible five-year stint as host of Extra, I’m embarking on a new journey to expand my digital platform, Hot Mics,” Bush expressed. “The growth we’ve achieved during this run has been remarkable, and I find myself more motivated than ever before in my professional life. Extra is a cultural landmark; if only I had a dollar for every time someone shouted ‘Extra Extra’ at me in the airport or elsewhere, I could afford Warner Bros.

Additionally, Extra, which ranks as the second-longest-running entertainment news program in syndication, is a production of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, jointly with Telepictures Productions, and it’s distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution.

Back in March, I was thrilled to learn that my favorite game show got renewed for its 32nd season by the Fox Television Stations group! It’s rumored that this upcoming season will bring about some exciting changes, like a fresh face as the host and a new mastermind behind the scenes as the showrunner. Plus, I can’t wait to see the show with a completely revamped look, along with brand-new gaming experiences designed just for us viewers!
