As a long-time gamer and a dedicated sports enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of Faceoff: Inside the NHL. Having grown up watching hockey legends like Keith Tkachuk, I’m thrilled to see his son Brady and Matthew Tkachuk get their own spotlight in this intriguing docuseries.
In a recent announcement made on Thursday, it’s confirmed that the Amazon Prime Video docuseries titled Faceoff: Inside the NHL, which provides an intimate look into the personal and professional lives of top NHL players, is set to return for a six-episode second season in 2025.
Created by Box to Box and NHL Productions, this content is scheduled for release globally in the autumn, reaching over 240 nations and territories.
The initial season primarily focused on standout players like Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers), Matthew Tkachuk (Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers), William Nylander (Toronto Maple Leafs), and David Pastrňák (Boston Bruins), along with their teammates, coaches, and family.
As a gamer speaking, I’m super stoked about diving deeper into the Tkachuk family saga in the second season! It looks like we’ll get to know Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, Matthew’s younger bro, and their old man, Keith Tkachuk, a 18-season NHL veteran. The new cast members playing alongside Brady for season two are still under wraps, but I can hardly wait to find out!
In the first season, we provided captivating, intimate material unparalleled before. With an abundance of behind-the-scenes footage, we’re giving fans unprecedented insight into our players’ lives and families. We’re eager to continue this journey.
This upcoming season promises a rollercoaster of emotions, from gripping dramas to hilarious and heart-wrenching moments. A staggering number of viewers globally are set to witness a fresh, unprecedented portrayal of the NHL, offering an unmatched style and viewpoint that redefines their understanding of the sport.
The series is overseen by Mayer, along with James Gay-Rees, Paul Martin, and Hillary Olsen from Box to Box, and Daniel Amigone as the head writer.
Faceoff: Inside the NHL is now part of Prime Monday Night Hockey, broadcasting the exclusive English-language Monday night games during the NHL regular season, as well as NHL Coast to Coast, a live Canadian studio show that airs every Thursday, providing coverage across the entire league.
Amazon’s fifth original hockey production, made in collaboration with NHL Productions, is now available on Prime Video.
