As a passionate Ted Lasso fan who has spent countless hours laughing, crying, and rooting for my favorite team (AFC Richmond), I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement when Cristo Fernández, the man behind Dani Rojas, shared his hopes for returning to the show. His heartfelt response resonated with me; it was clear that he cherished the character as much as we do.
In other words, the actor who portrays Dani Rojas, just like his character, seems to view the potential return of “Ted Lasso” as a continuation of his life. When asked if he would reprise his role for a fourth season, Cristo Fernández expressed optimism, a sentiment that should delight fans.
It was inevitable that, following this significant announcement, any cast member of Ted Lasso who spoke up would probably be inquired about their return. Thus, when Cristo Fernández joined The Cooligans podcast, he was inquired if character Dani would make a comeback. In response, the actor delivered what could be termed the quintessential Dani Rojas answer, elucidating his thoughts on the matter.
Look, I read the article too. I can tell you that more than anything I am a fan too. I love the show. I’m forever grateful with Ted Lasso, with the fans, with Jason [Sudeikis], Joe [Kelly], Brendan [Hunt], Bill [Lawrence] and all the writers for giving me the opportunity to be part of it. And [it] just was a dream come true to do this campaign for State Farm because I had the chance to be Dani Rojas again. I would love to be Dani Rojas many more times. And I am excited [if] there’s more Ted Lasso, I want to be part of it, yes.
Following Fernández’s portrayal of Dani again in a State Farm advertisement alongside Patrick Mahomes (as reported by Forbes), it’s appropriate given that Ted Lasso initially began life as an NBC promotional piece.
Furthermore, the actor expressed his affection for the character and his desire to portray him once more. Thus, it appears he’s holding out hope along with us that the Season 3 finale of Ted Lasso didn’t double as the series finale.

It’s important to note that we still have many uncertainties regarding the potential fourth season or spinoff of Ted Lasso. Last week, it was announced that Warner Bros. Television may have secured options for three main cast members who are contractually bound under the UK’s Equity acting union: Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Higgins).
The original THR report further mentioned that the show’s co-creators, Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt (who plays Ted and Coach Beard), along with Juno Temple, the actress portraying Keeley Jones, are expected to be contacted next. Additionally, Deadline hinted at the possibility of setting up a writers’ room soon, and if everything falls into place, production could potentially start early in the following year.
A few days after the news was released, it was disclosed that Phil Dunster might not reprise his role as Jamie Tartt because of scheduling conflicts. At present, there’s been no updates regarding the rest of the cast. Fernández’s eagerness about the prospect of returning is a positive sign.
Essentially, there’s still a good deal of anticipation required until we see another season of Ted Lasso. Several aspects are yet to be clarified, but indications suggest that work is underway for a fourth installment. Moreover, it seems like the main cast is inclined towards reprising their roles if invited.
As we receive new information about the forthcoming chapters of a highly-acclaimed Apple TV+ series, we’ll be sure to share it here. In the interim, feel free to immerse yourself in seasons 1-3 of Ted Lasso, and let out a cheer for “football is life” alongside Dani with an Apple TV+ subscription!
