Upcoming DC films are building anticipation, with James Gunn’s Superman film being the next on the list. Fans can’t wait to witness the dynamic between Superman and Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, a relationship hinted at in the film trailer. Interestingly, the actors involved have shared some behind-the-scenes insights, revealing that kissing mid-air isn’t as enchanting as it appears on screen.
Last week, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan attended the Warner Bros panel at CinemaCon, where they unveiled fresh Superman footage. In addition to that, they shared a notable scene from the Superman and Lois trailer that has been generating buzz. According to Corenswet, the heart-stopping moment of their characters kissing across space is particularly memorable for him.
It seems significantly less charming when you’re lifted up while only supported by your undergarments, as that’s essentially what the harnesses are designed to do.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Corenswet spoke to how the big kiss wasn’t necessarily on his mind as much considering he was being hung by those famous and controversial Superman trunks. Brosnahan however, who was already method dressing with a newsprint dress, had a different experience. In her words:
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was my inaugural flight during that particular shoot, which made me exclaim, “Wow! We’re floating in mid-air, and isn’t this just terrific? Let’s make the most of it!” David, who had been at it for three months, commented on the discomfort but agreed that it was fantastic. We had been anticipating that scene for quite some time.
It’s likely that Corenswet became quite familiar with those wires during his time, and after a while, being suspended in the air might have lost its initial thrill for him as the novelty wore off. It’s intriguing to think about how a scene that could induce butterflies in our stomachs was perhaps less romantic for the actors involved. But then again, that’s just Hollywood! As Corenswet himself noted:
Whenever they instructed us to stop, we found ourselves suspended in the moment, gazing into one another’s eyes… We danced a brief dance on the tips of our toes.
Aerial ballet looks exciting! But let’s not forget that the tender moment in the preview is simply a tantalizing hint of the heartwarming romance between the beloved DC Comics pair, which will unfold on the big screen when the movie premieres. Here’s the trailer for you to enjoy:
There’s plenty of anticipation surrounding the upcoming Superman film. We’re curious about how the director from Guardians of the Galaxy will approach a Superman story, eager to witness the revival of the DC Universe on the big screen, and excited to meet the new characters joining Corenswet and Brosnahan. I can hardly wait to see Krypto the Superdog make his debut in this film, as well as Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal of Lex Luthor!
The trailer suggests that the couple spends a lot of time in front of screens, implying that their romantic storyline will likely be significant in the film. It’s as if we’re dangling from a rope, filled with excitement and impatience, as we count down the days until Superman graces our cinema screens on July 11.
