Approximately 40 seconds into the Marvel Studios YouTube video titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Fantastic First Look,” viewers get a glimpse of a space that resembles a sandy cavern, filled with disorganized desks and a menacing character engrossed in work at its center.

Although it hasn’t been explicitly verified as such, the setting strongly resembles Subterranea, the underground domain of the Mole Man in Marvel comics. The layout, characterized by dim lighting, a sandy floor, and a visible stairway at its base, suggests an underground location where the Mole Man resides and governs.

If we’re talking about Subterranea, this could potentially be the audience’s second glimpse into Marvel Cinematic Universe’s portrayal of an undergound setting. In the trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which was released in April, there’s a scene at approximately 1 minute and 38 seconds showing a gathering of people in what seems to be a comparable, sandy underground locale.
