As a movie critic with a lifelong love for Marvel comics and a soft spot for the Fantastic Four, I must say that this latest glimpse of Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing is nothing short of exhilarating. The practical suit design seems to be a nod to the comic book roots of the character, which is always a welcome sight for fans like me.
An image depicting a scene from Marvel’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps” has surfaced on the web, offering fans an initial glimpse of what seems to be a faithful, functional costume design for The Thing.
It appears that Ebon Moss-Bachrach, portraying Ben Grimm aka The Thing, might don such a look on set. However, viewers might need to be patient as the final appearance of this character may require more time to fully materialize due to the use of CGI and motion capture, unlike Michael Chiklis’ version from the 2005 Fantastic Four film. During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Moss-Bachrach himself mentioned this unique approach to bringing his character to life.
“I believe we’ve moved beyond the issue of the suit itself, as it seemed to be uncomfortable for Michael Chiklis. However, the use of suits in today’s technology is more like cosplay and amateur compared to the advanced performance capture techniques that are predominantly used now.”
This is a developing story. Check back soon for more information as it becomes available.
