In other words, Shahid could relate Sunny’s predicament to his personal experiences at age 18.
In an earlier conversation with The Indian Express, Shahid Kapoor reminisced about his character, Sunny, in the fast-paced crime drama Farzi. He shared that the concept had been brought up as a movie years prior. However, when offered the chance to revisit it as a series, he found himself captivated by the persona of Sunny.
Shahid observed that Sunny, a young artist yearning for acknowledgement, seemed familiar to him, reminding him of his own struggles in his late teen years. The actor added that Sunny’s sense of frustration resonated with him, particularly appealing to the younger demographic.
Kapoor mentioned, “Upon returning, they shared their plans for the role, and presented me with the character of Sunny, a struggling artist unappreciated by society. This role resonated deeply with my 18-19 year old self.
He emphasized that Sunny, a sly and resourceful person hailing from Mumbai, craves acknowledgment for his abilities yet often goes unnoticed. However, it is his imitation works, mimicking famous artists’ pieces, that grab people’s attention instead.
His work may be imitations, but it’s the only thing that people seem to care about and buy. He lamented that in today’s world, young artists often struggle to be recognized and given a chance.
Shahid expressed that feeling unrecognized and misinterpreted by others is something that rings true for numerous young individuals nowadays, and this connection is what led him to accept the project, marking a significant milestone in his career.
