I’ve been apprehensive about how well Fast & Furious 11 will wrap up the intense cliffhanger in Fast X. After watching Fast X, I was taken aback by my enjoyment of the tenth installment in this long-lasting series and eagerly anticipated the eleventh film. However, as days have passed, my anticipation has turned into concern due to the numerous delays in production for Fast & Furious 11. This makes me believe that it may not be able to effectively continue the storyline established at the end of Fast X.
In the closing scenes of “Fast X”, it turns out that the movie’s primary antagonist, Dante Reyes, manages to gain the upper hand against Dom and his team. Although he didn’t succeed in killing Dom or his son, Little B, he appears to have caused a catastrophic plane crash involving characters such as Roman, Tej, Ramsey, and Han. However, there is some optimism for Dom given that key figures like Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar make appearances in “Fast X”. Despite these enticing comebacks, I have concerns about “Fast & Furious 11” due to the likelihood of a time leap being incorporated.
Fast & Furious 11’s Extended Gap From Fast X Increases The Chance It Will Have A Time Jump
Fast & Furious 11 Still Hasn’t Started Filming
In the thrilling climax of Fast X, Dom and Little B miraculously make it through the dam explosion; however, they are compelled to witness Roman, Tej, Ramsey, and Han’s plane crash right afterward. This moment leaves Dom at a seemingly bleakest point in the Fast & Furious saga as the tenth movie concludes. However, given that the narrative of Fast & Furious 11 may begin with a time leap, this suspenseful ending might not get a proper resolution immediately. The need for a time jump can be attributed to the fact that Leo Abelo Perry, who plays Little B, will have noticeably grown older and taller by then.
As a massive fan, I must admit that it’s been two long years since Fast X graced our screens, and filming for the eleventh installment hasn’t even begun yet. This could mean a radical transformation for Little B in the upcoming movie, a challenge often faced by series and shows featuring young actors. Given that Perry filmed the dam explosion scene at least three years ago, it’s clear that he won’t bear the same look in Fast & Furious 11. Consequently, the movie may need to leap forward in time to accommodate this change.
Fast 11 Having A Time Jump Means It Will Probably Skip Over Fast X’s Cliffhanger Ending
Fast & Furious 11 May Retroactively Make Fast X’s Ending Worse
In the context of the previous Fast & Furious movie, it seems logical for Fast & Furious 11 to continue the story immediately afterward. Doing so would help clarify how Dom and Little B manage to evade Dante’s attacks, as well as explain the survival of Roman, Tej, Ramsey, and Han from the plane crash. However, since Little B played a significant role in the final action sequence of Fast X, the noticeable aging of actor Scott Eastwood (who plays Little B) between the two films may pose a challenge to this approach.
It’s plausible that Fast & Furious 11 might skip over some time and rely on explanations instead to show how each character survived, which could be rather underwhelming given that Fast X boasts the most thrilling (and unresolved) cliffhanger in the series. The prolonged delay in production for Fast & Furious 11 has sadly diminished my anticipation for the film, particularly since it’s intended to serve as the franchise finale.
Fast 11 Not Resolving Fast X’s Cliffhanger Directly Would Be A Huge Mistake
Fast & Furious 11 Needs To Overcome This Major Problem
It seems that fans might be let down if Fast & Furious 11 employs a time leap, as they’re anticipating the movie to wrap up the cliffhanger. Moreover, it could appear as a convenient way out when so many significant characters seemingly perish in Fast X, only for their survival not to be depicted. Consequently, this issue suggests that there may not have been a well-thought-out plan post-release of Fast X, which is disheartening. Thus, I’m apprehensive that Fast & Furious 11 might resort to a time jump, which could be detrimental.
