Fatal Fury City of the Wolves Is Adding A Real Life DJ; People Are Pissed

If you’re a fan of SNK and eager for legacy characters, I regret to inform you that “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves” has unveiled its second base roster member – none other than EDM artist Salvatore Ganacci.

Surprisingly, events unfolded on April 3rd with a character trailer and a live-action teaser, narrating the tale of a youthful dreamer aspiring to transform into a video game character. Unfortunately for the SNK community, this took place in the City of Wolves.

Known for his prowess in Electronic Dance Music (EDM), Ganacci is an esteemed artist who’s graced some of the most prominent stages globally, like Tomorrowland. While there’s no question about his musical talent, his presence in a fighting game has sparked controversy among fans.

It’s quite surprising given that Ganacci is the fourth confirmed character in City of the Wolves, and he will join football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on the main roster. Starting from Season 1, we also have Ken Masters and Chun-Li from Street Fighter joining the game. For these two characters, it’s reasonable to say that this crossover is intended to thrill fans of their respective genres.

It’s well-known that Saudi Arabia effectively controls SNK, as the company operates under the MiSK Foundation. The inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo and Salvatore Ganacci as guest characters might be due to this ownership.

In Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo, famously known as CR7, enjoys immense popularity, so much so that he was appointed a country ambassador during their joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup with Greece and Egypt. Although they didn’t win the 2030 bid, Saudi Arabia will now independently organize the 2034 World Cup, and CR7 remains very popular there.

It so happens that the DJ has multiple shows planned for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during the final weeks of April. Interestingly enough, that’s exactly when Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to be launched.

Unfortunately for enthusiasts who cherish SNK’s history, they will need to endure a bit more waiting before witnessing Duck King, the disc jockey of South Town, make his debut in City of the Wolves. The upcoming Fatal Fury is slated for release on April 24, offering three days of early access if you choose to pre-order the game. Players can enjoy it on Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam.
