Yesterday’s Future Game Show revealed fresh gameplay insights and facts about FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment’s most diverse project yet.
Upon catching my first glimpse of the trailer for Remedy’s upcoming multiplayer shooter, it struck me as reminiscent. Essentially, it appeared to be a reimagining of Left 4 Dead with fresh aesthetics. Yet, I don’t view that as an issue at all. On the contrary, my curiosity is piqued and I’m eager to learn more about this intriguing new game.
Ever since I’ve become deeply engrossed in Remedy Entertainment’s games like Alan Wake and Control, I find myself captivated by their intricate stories, eagerly anticipating any major revelations from creator Sam Lake and his colleagues in the future.
I’m really looking forward to Firebreak because while it may be similar to Left 4 Dead, it offers a fresh take on the concept.
Same, Same, But Different
To set the record straight, I’ve gotta say it’s flattering to be likened to Left 4 Dead. Both games share a knack for nail-biting cooperative gameplay and the thrill of taking down foes in raw, first-person action.
Remedy excels at linking its stories to the renowned Remedy Connected Universe. The story unfolds coherently within the established narrative of Alan Wake, Control, and eventually, Max Payne.

The game continues to take place within the ancient Oldest House, filled with altered artifacts that may leave you feeling insufficient and overwhelmed for the task at hand. However, rest assured, the First Born Citizens are skilled in managing such otherworldly perils, so they’re fully prepared to tackle them.
Six Years After Control
Six years have passed since Jesse Faden last visited The Bureau, and during this timeframe, some significant mysteries remain unresolved. For instance, why is the Federal Bureau of Control still under lockdown? Previously, Jesse had successfully dealt with the Hiss threat, so why has it resurfaced once more?
Guess we’ll have to play to find out.
Three Players
Instead of Left 4 Dead’s traditional four-player cooperative gameplay, Firebreak: Firebreak boasts a three-player setup. However, whether you’re playing solo or with a partner, it remains enjoyable. The charm of having three players is undeniable, and you should gather a group of friends to join forces, fight off the Hiss, and experience the magic of teamwork.

opting for three team members is a sound decision, given the game’s first-person perspective and narrow corridors might become intimidating with an additional player. Moreover, having only three characters opens up a broad selection of weapons and tools for each, fostering teamwork and enabling you to find your bearings as you tackle odd jobs scattered throughout the Oldest House. Reflecting on it now, FBC: Firebreak seems suitable for the ‘friendslop’ style of games.
Free On Game Pass / PlayStation Plus
For individuals finding it hard to purchase Firebreak, here’s some great news: This game is free for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass subscribers! Selling such games can be challenging due to their genre’s competitive market, which is already saturated with shooter titles. However, we’ve observed similar strategies in the past with games like Redfall and Back 4 Blood. In light of this, Remedy’s choice to offer Firebreak through subscription services demonstrates strategic thinking, as it benefits long-term subscribers by granting them access to the game.

I’m really looking forward to giving Firebreak (FBC) a go! It’s not often I’d choose this type of game, but I’ve had a blast with titles like Left 4 Dead in the past. With friends, this could be an amazing time, and the chaos shown in the newest trailer is starting to appeal to me more. Honestly, the concept of Evil Sticky Notes sounds intriguing – that’s definitely something worth exploring!
