'F*cking Kill It': Sasha Calle Gives Advice to New Supergirl Milly Alcock

As a seasoned movie enthusiast with decades of cinematic experiences under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement as I witness the evolution of Supergirl in the DC Universe. Sasha Calle’s heartfelt words to Milly Alcock, her successor, are a testament to the camaraderie that exists among actors who have donned the iconic cape and crown.

In the exciting news that Milly Alcock is set to portray Supergirl in the DC Universe, Sasha Calle – who previously played the character on The Flash – offers heartening words for her successor. The beloved Supergirl character will soon star in a standalone film titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which ranks second in the upcoming productions of the new DC Universe, trailing only James Gunn’s Superman (set to release next year). It is speculated that Alcock may first appear as Supergirl alongside her fellow Kryptonian in Superman before starring in her own separate film.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, where Sasha Calle is promoting her latest film “On Swift Horses“, she shared some encouraging words with Milly Alcock as the latter prepares for her debut as Supergirl in the DC Universe. As the initial actress to portray Supergirl on the big screen in four decades, appearing in “The Flash“, Calle had been anticipated to play the character for a significant time. However, her portrayal was scrapped when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over to reboot the DC Universe. In essence, Calle urged Alcock to enjoy every moment of playing Supergirl, warmly welcoming her into the role. While she didn’t offer any technical advice for acting in a superhero suit, Calle did praise Alcock, remarking that she seemed ideal for the part. Calle further commented:

“You look so badass. I love that. Yeah, just f*cking kill it. Have fun.”

Details concerning the plot of the upcoming DC Universe film remain undisclosed, but it’s been confirmed that the movie will be adapted from the DC Comics miniseries of the same name, penned by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely. Contrasting the eternally hopeful Superman, this film presents a pessimistic Supergirl who is recruited by a young extraterrestrial girl intent on retribution against those responsible for the destruction of her home planet. The extent to which the movie will follow the comic book narrative remains uncertain.

It’s been quite some time since James Gunn unveiled his and Peter Safran’s blueprint for the revamped DC Universe. Apart from “Superman” and “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” Gunn also disclosed plans for a “Brave and the Bold” movie, a “Swamp Thing” horror flick, a “Booster Gold” film, and more. Nevertheless, it’s on television where the DC Universe will officially commence its journey.

According to Gunn, it’s our responsibility to ensure the DC Universe is consistently linked across films, television, games, and animation. While details about Gunn’s gaming plans are still unannounced, a crossover between movies and TV has already been set with Nathan Fillion playing Guy Gardner in both the Superman series and The Lanterns. However, Gunn and Safran have decided to launch the new DC Universe with an animated Creature Commandos series, premiering on Max this December. The Creature Commandos are essentially a zombified version of the Suicide Squad, with Viola Davis set to reprise her original DCEU role as Amanda Waller in the animated show. Later, Waller will transition into live-action in her own standalone series, titled Waller.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
is currently slated to release in 2026.
