As a seasoned gamer with years of MMO experience under my belt, I must say that the healer job classes in Final Fantasy XIV have always been a fascinating aspect for me. Each class offers a unique blend of healing, shielding, and DPS abilities that cater to various playstyles.
In the realm of multiplayer online games, including Final Fantasy XIV, the healer roles are equipped with healing abilities, protective shields, and even deal damage when needed. I personally prefer to specialize as a dedicated healer like the White Mage, providing unwavering support to my team. However, if you’re seeking a more dynamic playstyle, you might want to consider the Sage class, which combines healing with offensive capabilities, adding an element of adventure to your gameplay.
Every Final Fantasy XIV healer job comes equipped with distinct abilities. The way you handle healing will influence which healer suits you best. To assist you in finding a supportive class that matches your gaming style, we’ve put together an extensive tier list for FFXIV healers.
Tier B: Astrologian
In the world of Final Fantasy XIV, the Astrologian is a beloved healer who has found favor among players. Initially, the role faced some challenges, but Square Enix quickly addressed these issues to ensure they didn’t persist for long.
By employing their enchanting card abilities such as Astral Draw, Play I/II/III, and Umbral Draw, the Astrologian excels at providing raid-wide healing and boosts. These cards facilitate healing of allies, include regeneration effects, and inflict damage upon foes with Combust and Malefic.
Furthermore, abilities such as Synastry aid in forming a connection with the target for healing and concurrently facilitating self-healing during difficult battles.
Due to the Nocturnal and Diurnal Stances, Astrologians have the ability to alternate between providing protective shields or healing for their team. Therefore, if you are a co-healer in a raid or alliance group, you may select your stance based on the other healers present.
As you progress with your healing character, you’ll observe that the Astrologian role increasingly specializes in healing, forgoing the substantial shields and damage capabilities it once had.
Tier A- Sage
Among all healers in Final Fantasy XIV, Sage stands out as exceptionally potent due to its synchronized offensive and defensive capabilities. Unlike typical healing classes, Sage functions more like a powerful damage dealer, with its abilities restoring health as damage is inflicted more effectively.
Sage’s Kardia ability allows the targeted character to recover health through magical attacks. Moreover, Sages possess abilities such as Eukresia, which simultaneously inflicts damage and healing over time, making it easier and quicker to defeat bosses.
In addition to their other skills, Sages boast extensive area-of-effect (AoE) healing through spells such as Prognosis, Phystis, and Ixochole. With Eukresia, you can upgrade Prognosis into Eukrasian Prognosis, enabling both AoE healing and the casting of a magical barrier that not only absorbs but also nullifies damage for everyone within its range.
Thanks to its reliable safeguards such as Haima and Kerachole, both your party’s tank and its least powerful member are secure.
Tier A: White Mage
Have an opinion on this article? We’d love to hear it!
The White Mage skillfully harmonizes protective barriers and restorative powers, infused with a touch of attacking capabilities. This class is a proficient healer, executing its role flawlessly. From casting healing charms such as Tetragrammaton, Benediction, and Cure to fortifying vast areas with AoE healing and health regeneration via Asylmn, the White Mage possesses an array of abilities.
White Mages possess a unique blend of offensive and defensive abilities, such as the skill Assize, which not only harms surrounding adversaries but also restores HP to nearby allies. Furthermore, they can invoke Divine Bennison to mitigate party damage, ensuring their teammates remain standing and resilient.
If you’re looking for a character class that offers plenty of healing, protection, boosts, and overall safety until the very end, this one delivers exactly that.
Tier S: Scholar
The fairies, Selene and Eos, significantly enhance the intrigue of the Scholar role in our game. Additionally, Eos often joins the healer in combat, offering aid to other party members who are under distress.
Scholars summon fairies that swiftly apply buffs and regeneration using abilities such as Whispering Dawn, Fey Illumination, among others. Additionally, you can employ Lustrate, Indomitability, Sacred Soil, and Energy Drain to boost the fairies’ healing meter.
The Scholar’s exceptional quality lies in their ability to defend and heal, known as Adloquium. This power not only shields against incoming damage and revives health with Galvanize, but also counteracts additional damage equivalent to 180% of the recovered health through Catalyze.
Moreover, since the Scholar character has a unique healing mechanism that prioritizes shielding first, they possess numerous healing and regeneration skills at their disposal. Consequently, in order to prevent a party from being wiped out, the Scholar frequently employs multiple healing abilities on a continuous basis.
In this scenario, scholars act both as guards for the party and managers of fairies, hence they are a class that relies on the player. Fortunately, their abilities line up well with one another, creating an easy-to-use healing class that’s ideal for beginners.
As a seasoned gamer diving into Final Fantasy XIV, if you’re new to the support role, I’d recommend either becoming a Scholar or a White Mage. But for those veteran healers with a knack for intricate game mechanics, consider honing your skills as a Sage or an Astrologian instead.
