Final Fantasy 16 Producer Hints at Upcoming Xbox Release Possibility

As a long-time fan who’s witnessed the evolution of Final Fantasy since the glory days of the original PlayStation, I couldn’t be more thrilled with the recent news about Square Enix bringing their iconic series to Xbox consoles. The frustration of being left out for so long has been like a Chocobo with a thorn in its foot! But now, it seems like that thorn is finally being removed, and I can’t help but feel like I’ve just pulled off a successful summoning of the ultimate weapon.

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled that PC and PlayStation 5 players are already immersed in the world of Final Fantasy 16. With producer Naoki Yoshida subtly hinting at an Xbox release, it looks like Xbox users might soon get to embark on this epic adventure too!

Since 1997, the franchise has been accessible on PlayStation platforms, debuting with the highly praised “Final Fantasy 7”.

Since then, Square Enix has made efforts to release the game on multiple platforms, including PC.

It appears that the publisher is contemplating expanding the release of “Final Fantasy 16” to include the Xbox Series X|S. The development crew has expressed a desire for the game to be distributed on Xbox platforms.

In a chat with Video Games on Sports Illustrated, Yoshida stated that since we’ve already unveiled the PC edition of the game, we’re certainly aiming to bring the Xbox version to life as well.

Yet, the director was unable to disclose precise release dates, acknowledging that he wasn’t prepared to share such information at this time.

Though the exact date is yet to be confirmed, Yoshida encourages Xbox gamers to keep their spirits high, as the long-awaited day may arrive sooner than expected.

He stressed that the situation isn’t completely hopeless, but rather we are determined to make things happen. So, players should not lose faith in their aspirations.

On the surface, it appears that Square Enix is working on bringing Final Fantasy 16 to Xbox.

Fortunately, you can play its precursor, “Final Fantasy 15,” on Microsoft consoles. However, other popular games like the critically-acclaimed “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” are still waiting to be launched.

More Final Fantasy Games May Come to Xbox

Ever since 1997, I’ve been eagerly awaiting each new installment of the iconic “Final Fantasy” series from Square Enix, initially gracing our PlayStations before making their way onto various other platforms.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that while there are games for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, many of the latest releases tend to be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PC.

The fact that many Xbox games from Square Enix were previously exclusive has been quite annoying for players, but there’s hope for improvement since Square Enix is now focusing on bringing more of their series games to Xbox.

Based on GameIndustry.biz reports, this video game publisher plans to shift its strategy towards a more aggressive multi-platform approach due to a financially underperforming year following the launch of their top games which did not meet expected profits.

To tackle this matter, the company intends to make their upcoming game releases available on various platforms such as Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and personal computers (PC).

It’s still unclear if “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” and “Final Fantasy 16” will make an appearance, but Yoshi-P’s latest comments hint that there could be a possibility.

The “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” has been released for PC play, while it’s expected that “Rebirth” will also become accessible on PC after the exclusive period for the PlayStation 5 ends.

Keeping that thought in focus, it’s likely that additional “Final Fantasy” games might become accessible on Xbox and various other gaming systems in the near future.
