As a fan with a deep appreciation for both Ben Affleck’s acting prowess and Hulk Hogan’s larger-than-life persona, I can’t help but get excited about this potential collaboration. Ben’s ability to dive into complex characters and bring their stories to life has always been captivating, and Hogan’s tale is no exception.
In the past few months, news about the alleged separation of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez has been a hot topic. From whispers that Ben was displeased with JLo for revealing their love story in her documentary to selling their joint residence, there’s no shortage of Bennifer relationship updates. However, we now have a fresh rumor about Ben Affleck that isn’t connected to his breakup from the “Jenny From the Block” star. Contrary to speculation about him potentially reprising his role as Daredevil in Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine movie, this time it revolves around a certain wrestling legend – none other than Hulk Hogan himself.
Based on a Variety report, Ben’s production company, Artists Equity (co-founded by him and Matt Damon), has obtained a script titled “Killing Gawker,” penned by Charles Randolph. The script is based on Ryan Holiday’s book “Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue” from 2018. It seems that Ben might be considering playing the role of Hulk Hogan, as suggested by Daily Mail.
The movie, initially planned for production back in 2018, reportedly intends to explore the controversial court case that arose when Gawker published a sex tape involving Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, and Heather Cole, wife of his friend Bubba the Love Sponge. In 2016, a Florida jury decided that Gawker should pay $141 million in damages, a verdict that reverberated throughout the media world and ultimately contributed to the company’s bankruptcy.
It appears that Gus Van Sant, famous for movies like “Good Will Hunting”, could direct another film with Matt Damon and “Gone Girl” star Ben Affleck. What makes this project interesting is the possibility of Van Sant acting in it himself, as sources say he’s eager to portray the larger-than-life character of Hogan, a role that would leverage his acting skills as the WWE Hall of Famer at a crucial point in his career.
Portraying Hogan as Affleck has chosen presents an intriguing aspect for the project, stirring curiosity about how he will handle portraying the charismatic yet contentious character. Renowned for his dedication to roles, the actor from “The Last Duel” is expected to infuse complexity and intensity into Hogan’s narrative – a story that spans both personal triumphs and setbacks.
As someone who has been a long-time fan of professional wrestling and Chris Hemsworth’s acting career, I find myself intrigued by the possibility of him playing the legendary wrestler in a biopic that is separate from the one previously rumored to be in development. Given my personal experiences as both a wrestling enthusiast and an observer of Hollywood, I believe that Hemsworth could be a perfect fit for the role if Netflix decides to pursue this project following their loss of rights to the original biopic.
It’s unclear if the actor from “Batman v Superman” will eventually wear the yellow and red headgear, but this intriguing speculation has already sparked excitement as the project develops. With Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in charge, “Killing Gawker” seems poised to deliver a thrilling examination of celebrity, media, and justice – a movie that might very well fight its way to box office triumph, similar to their latest biopic (though about a shoe), “Air”, which you can stream with an Amazon Prime membership.
