With the launch of his directorial debut, Hell Of A Summer, and a new A24 movie, The Legend of Ochi, out in theaters this month, he’s had quite an active schedule. As we gear up emotionally for the series finale, Wolfhard has shared his experience on his last day on set. Be forewarned, this might stir your emotions as it did mine.

Previously, Finn Wolfhard compared his last day playing Mike Wheeler alongside the cast to Andy parting ways with his toys in Toy Story 3. He described filming the final season as an emotionally intense experience due to its extended shooting duration. Regarding his sentiments on Mike’s ending, he expressed these thoughts to People:

I found his conclusion delightful, yet I felt both content and bewildered, as well as saddened and joyful simultaneously.

22-year-old Finn Wolfhard’s adventure on “Stranger Things” kicked off when he was chosen for the show during the summer of 2015. As he has shared before, spending time on the set essentially shaped his entire childhood and held great significance for him. Although I can’t fully comprehend what he means by feeling both “satisfied” and “confused,” it seems likely that concluding the series without the prospect of another season was a peculiar and possibly bittersweet experience for him. However, what truly tugged at my heartstrings was his subsequent comments, leaving me with a sense of nostalgia and anticipation.

In my opinion, the film didn’t quite find its footing until the following day. It left me feeling a bit emotionally drained, similar to a harsh hangover. However, the ending was exceptionally well-crafted, leaving me with only praise for the entire cast.

I can scarcely conceive of existence without anticipating a fresh season of “Stranger Things” on the horizon, yet these remarks from Wolfhard serve as a reminder that such a world may soon be upon us. Truly, it’s an excellent series, and the joy of revisiting Hawkins with each new season has been immense.

Following Wolfhard’s explanation of feeling a lingering emotional impact post-show wrap-up, the reality of each cast member going their individual ways is becoming increasingly apparent. Although their friendship will endure eternally, it won’t retain its former essence. However, Wolfhard recounted what seemed to be a heartfelt incident that occurred on the last day:

On the final day, everyone remained, and we were all present. Sharing that time together was truly enjoyable and rewarding.

In December, the cast concluded Season 5 of their series with touching farewell messages, expressing gratitude towards the creators who provided them with an extraordinary childhood and lifelong friendships. Sadie Sink specifically acknowledged being given an unparalleled childhood experience and the best friends she could ever hope for. If this isn’t a testament to the promising futures of these actors, I’m not sure what is. However, I must admit that I’m not quite prepared for the emotional aftermath we’ll all feel once the final scene of the show has played out.
