Fire Country: After Diego Confronted Gabriela About Bode In Season 3’s Premiere, Max Thieriot And Stephanie Arcila Broke Down Their Characters Mentalities

As a seasoned gamer of TV drama series, I must say that Fire Country has once again proven its mettle by delivering a riveting Season 3 premiere. The love triangle between Rafael de la Fuente’s Diego, Stephanie Arcila‘s Gabriela, and Max Thieriot’s Bode is the heart of this show, and it’s clear that their emotions are running high.

Spoilers for Fire Country’s Season 3 premiere are ahead! If you aren’t caught up, you can stream the series (including the newest episode) with a Paramount+ subscription.

Indeed, the series “Fire Country” made quite an impact upon its return to the 2024 TV schedule, both literally and figuratively. Rafael de la Fuente’s character Diego was left taken aback when Stephanie Arcila’s Gabriela didn’t reciprocate his proposed “I do”, leading him to question her feelings for Max Thieriot’s Bode. This emotional turmoil transpired amidst the chaos of trying to rescue a pilot after a helicopter crash. As such, we can anticipate an exciting and dramatic Season 3, particularly concerning this love triangle. Arcila and Thieriot shared their insights on how their characters were dealing with these developments during their interview with TopMob.

Stephanie Arcila Told Me How Gabriela Was Feeling As Her Fiancé Confronted Her About Her Relationship With Bode

In my conversation with Stephanie Arcila about Gabriela’s journey in this episode, she shared that her character is incredibly emotionally raw right now. She’s grappling with complex emotions, as she didn’t say “I do” at her wedding and it was disrupted by a helicopter crash. So, when Diego confronted her about his feelings being hurt by her feelings for Bode, it felt like he was probing an already painful wound even deeper. In our chat, Stephanie confided:

In essence, Gabriela found it particularly challenging because such instances of broken promises and abandonment have been a recurring theme in her life. Time and again, people have told her they would be present, only to disappear. This is reminiscent of her experiences with her parents, as well as others, who promised to stay but ultimately didn’t. Bode’s actions, where he took the fall for someone else and left, were another instance of this pattern. Consequently, when she perceived herself as causing similar feelings in someone else, it was a profoundly difficult realization for her.

Last season, I found out that Gabriela’s mom left her, and Manny’s legal woes have created problems before. She’s always been careful not to harm anyone, but unfortunately, Diego found himself stuck between the complicated emotions she had for Bode.

To clarify, according to Arcila’s statement, her character is currently undergoing a challenging yet crucial phase of development.

She seems to be at a crossroads in her life, where she’s clear about what she desires, but uncertain about the path her life should take. It appears she’s approaching a time when she feels overwhelmed and disoriented, a stage where she needs to sort through many personal issues on her own, as only she can find the solutions that truly resonate with her.

As Gabriela contemplates Diego’s remarks and reevaluates her relationships with both him and Bode, Arcila shared with me the belief that “things usually turn out for the best in the end.” Let’s hope her character can adopt such a mindset as she navigates this difficult phase.

Since Bode Had To Watch This All Go Down, Max Thieriot Explained What It Was Like Witnessing Such An Intense Conversation

Regarding Max Thieriot’s character, he was not only a topic of discussion between the engaged couples but also an observer during their exchange. Although Bode didn’t step in at Gabriela’s wedding, it’s clear that they still harbor feelings for each other, which becomes evident when they find themselves working together with Diego.

In this case, when de la Fuente’s character introduced the topic of the romantic drama, Bode found himself at a loss, as I was informed by the show’s lead actor and co-creator.

He seems quite astonished, not necessarily stunned, but still taken aback by everything that’s happening, isn’t he? Frankly, it’s all rather surprising news. I believe he had a clear understanding of Gabriela’s stance prior to this, so hearing her fiancé say such things is causing him some confusion. It’s like he’s thinking, “Hold on a minute. I can’t quite process any of this information right now.

Thieriot continued to emphasize that Bode found the situation “uncomfortable.” At that moment, he didn’t know how to react since the woman he has romantic feelings for was openly discussing those feelings with her partner, all while they were trying to save a life together. Essentially, the actor stated that Bode was caught in an awkward predicament.

It was, I think, an awkward moment for him. It was awkward for me.

During filming of that scene, it proved quite challenging. Nevertheless, Thieriot remarked that his fellow actors excelled, particularly Rafael de la Fuente, as he dealt with the situation delicately, showing instead that his character was “slightly fractured at the time” rather than being impolite.

Prior to the start of Season 3, showrunner Tia Napolitano hinted that Bode and Gabriela’s relationship would deepen with “an increased level of appeal and complexity.” This suggestion was definitely on display during the opening episode. Now, it promises to be engaging (and dramatic) to observe how Gabriela’s interaction with Diego affects the love triangle dynamics.

In a straightforward manner, Arcila and Thieriot left no doubt that their characters were deeply affected by the events unfolding. As fresh episodes of their series air every Friday at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS, I’m eagerly anticipating how they navigate their emotions in the subsequent scenes.
