First Footage of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Sequel Brings Bloody Thrills and Nostalgia

Approximately three months remain until the release of “I Know What You Did Last Summer“, yet attendees at CinemaCon last night were treated to a sneak peek of the sequel, featuring original actors Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising their roles. The preview hints that this latest installment will continue the series’ tradition of graphic violence, as seen in the 1997 movie with its relentless hook-wielding serial killer seeking vengeance.

The unpublished video starts off by showing a couple (Madelyn Cline and Joshua Orpin) having a peaceful evening together, with Cline’s character relaxing in a bubble bath while wearing noise-cancelling headphones. You might wonder what follows next, and indeed, it’s the arrival of our hook-wielding antagonist, disrupting the tranquility with chaos, targeting Orpin’s character. Meanwhile, Cline’s character remains blissfully unaware in the tub, oblivious to the unfolding violence due to her headphones. Later, she ponders aloud, “Could this be some twisted form of karma for what we did… or is someone aware of what transpired?

1. It’s clear that someone witnessed the incident, as we wouldn’t be watching a sequel without it.

2. Later on, the crowd erupted in cheers when Prinze Jr.’s character Ray Bronson made an appearance, stating, “This isn’t the first time Southport has experienced such violence.” The excitement escalated further when Hewitt’s Julie James appeared to query, “I just have one question: What did you do last summer?”

More to come…
