As an avid fan and follower of Blumhouse Productions, I must express my utter excitement for the upcoming releases, particularly Speak No Evil and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. The insights shared by Beatriz Sequeira, who is instrumental in these projects, have only fueled my anticipation.
Leading up to the launch of the buzzworthy psychological thriller “Speak No Evil,” scheduled for September 13 in theaters, we had a chat with Blumhouse producer Beatriz Sequeira. The film is garnering acclaim for James McAvoy’s outstanding performance. Sequeira, who is executive producer of the movie, has also been actively involved with other exciting forthcoming Blumhouse productions, including “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.” In an interview with MovieWeb, she hinted, “I can confirm that we will release it in December next year, and it promises to be fantastic.
Since it’s a sequel, it’s larger, improved, and more thrilling in every way. It’s going to be fantastic! I must say, the dedication and investment of the fans is truly remarkable, something I’ve never encountered before. The atmosphere is electrifying, showcasing just how passionate they are about it. It’s a bit humbling, as if we have a responsibility to deliver a quality film that will satisfy them.
Apart from the major Blumhouse release Sequeira is producing that you’re referring to, there’s another significant one in the pipeline – “Wolf Man”. Regarding the casting change with Christopher Abbott replacing Ryan Gosling, Sequeira had an insightful perspective: “In essence, it’s like the movie adapts. You see, we have a remarkable project under the direction of Leigh [Whannell] and starring Chris and Julia Gardner. So, let’s concentrate on this incredible team and their work, as that’s what we should be excited about. This movie is set to release on January 17, 2025.
Speak No Evil Is Getting Big Blumhouse Hype
Blumhouse Productions is often a trailblazer in the horror genre, but this year hasn’t been its strongest, according to both audiences and critics. The movies it released earlier this year, such as “Afraid, Imaginary“, and “Night Swim“, didn’t quite measure up to Blumhouse’s past horror hits like “Get Out, M3GAN, Creep, The Invisible Man, The Black Phone, Hush, Sinister, The Purge, Paranormal Activity“. However, the upcoming release of “Speak No Evil” on September 13th has sparked a lot of interest, even though it’s a remake of a film that came out just two years ago.
Much of the enthusiasm for this movie stems from James McAvoy, known for delivering a remarkable, off-balance portrayal. His acting in films like Split and Glass has been exceptional, so when MovieWeb’s Will Sayre praised his performance in Speak No Evil, it was quite meaningful.
McAvoy is a formidable presence in the acting world, with his portrayal of psychotic or unstable characters being particularly noteworthy. In certain instances, it seems as if McAvoy’s character, Paddy, embodies all 23 personalities from his films ‘Split/Glass,’ directed by M. Night Shyamalan, all at once. This performance is intense, often reaching a boiling point, with the talented Scottish actor giving an award-winning display that at times appears on the verge of explosion, not just in violent or gory scenes, but also in more dialogue-heavy, seemingly ordinary ones.
In the movie, even Scoot McNairy, McAvoy’s fellow actor, was both impressed and unsettled by McAvoy’s performance. You can hear more about it from McNairy in his interview on MovieWeb, which is linked below.
