As a long-time follower of FKA Twigs and her enchanting musical journey, I must say that “Drums of Death” is another mesmerizing addition to her repertoire. The track, with its glitch-pop beats and sultry whispers, takes us further into the captivating world she’s been crafting, a universe that blends sensuality, liberation, and raw talent in a way only FKA Twigs can.
Under a new name, FKA Twigs has unveiled the third track from her upcoming album, titled “Eusexua“. The song, named “Drums of Death”, was first previewed in its entirety at the start of her intricately arranged music video for “Eusexua“, which dropped in October. Ever since then, the artist’s devoted followers have been inundating her social media platforms, asking for the song to be made available.
The infectious Koreless production is centered on spacious 808 kicks, claps, and chopped-up vocalizations. In a sultry tone, Twigs whispers “Listen up, girl. Drop your skirt to the floor. Tear your clothes, body torn” as the bridge rises to the melodic hook: Hello, it’s your life, do you want to meet later? Relax and ease your mind ’cause you work so much. Hello, it’s your life and you’re my main character. I’m here any time, you can call me up.”
From a more seductive perspective, “Drums of Death” carries on Twig’s quest for sexual emancipation, which began with the lead single, “Eusexua,” and was delved deeper into through “Perfect Stranger.” To fully immerse yourself in Twig’s Eusexua realm, her music videos serve as the primary platform, where her fluid dance moves breathe life into the song like no other.
