Florence Pugh Leads Band of Marvel Misfits in First ‘Thunderbolts’ Trailer

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen more than a few superhero movies, I must admit, the trailer for Disney’s Thunderbolts has piqued my interest. The blend of action, humor, and intrigue seems like a perfect recipe for an entertaining ride. Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova is always a delight, and the addition of David Harbour as her slob father adds an unexpected twist to the mix.

In the debut trailer for Disney’s Thunderbolts, we find Florence Pugh portraying Yelena Belova, a melancholic hitwoman, reconnecting with her disheveled father, Alexei, played by David Harbour.

Though Yelena appears to be constantly engaged in perilous tasks, she laments about her life feeling hollow. However, her mission swiftly regains meaning when she encounters a rogues’ gallery of questionable Marvel figures, as hinted by the thrilling preview.

In the trailer, I find myself saying to my fellow unconventional heroes like John Walker/U.S. Agent, Ghost, and Taskmaster, “It seems we’ve all made some less-than-ideal choices… Now, it looks like someone wants us out of the picture.” We’re in a tight spot after completing tasks for an unidentified villain, and it doesn’t look good for us.

Yelena cautions her companions in the preview of the high-octane movie, ‘Be Aware When You Put Together a Team.'” or simply, “Yelena advises her partners in crime in the action movie teaser, ‘Mind Who You Bring On Board.’

As a passionate fan, I got a sneak peek at the trailer, where Lewis Pullman’s character, Bob, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character, Val, make their entrance to the unexpected Marvel squad.

The film “Thunderbolts” faced delays last year because of writers’ and actors’ strikes, and it is now scheduled for release on May 2, 2025. As production adhered to Los Angeles labor actions, Geraldine Viswanathan took over the role from Ayo Edebiri, while actor Pullman stepped in for Steven Yeun in “Thunderbolts” due to scheduling issues with both actors.

In addition to the Marvel team-up film, actors Sebastian Stan and David Harbour are featured, while Jake Schreier takes on the director’s role and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige serves as producer.

Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson serve as executive producers.
