As a long-time fan of Grey’s Anatomy who has witnessed the evolution of the show from its inception, I am beyond thrilled about the addition of Floriana Lima to the cast for season 21! Having seen her impressive performances on A Million Little Things, The Punisher, Supergirl, and many more, it’s clear that she brings a unique charm and depth to every character she plays.
A new face will soon be walking the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
Actress Floriana Lima, known for her recent role on “A Million Little Things,” has joined the cast of season 21 in a recurring part. She will portray Nora, an old friend of Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Megan Hunt’s (Abigail Spencer), who visits Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital after a routine surgery at another facility leads to severe complications.
Nora is portrayed as a dedicated mom, fresh from a divorce, who’s resolute on making any necessary sacrifices to keep going, ensuring she’s always present for her kids and ready to embark on a new phase in her existence.
She’ll debut her character in the second episode of Grey’s Anatomy, which will be aired on Oct. 3. The series Grey’s Anatomy comes back on Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. on ABC, and it will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
Beyond her role as a character opposite James Roday Rodriguez’s Gary Lima on the ABC drama “A Million Little Things,” Lima has also made appearances in various other shows. For instance, she was seen alongside Jon Bernthal in Netflix and Marvel’s “The Punisher.” Additionally, she worked with Melissa Benoist in The CW’s “Supergirl,” where she portrayed Maggie Sawyer, a special crimes investigator who is one of the first openly gay characters in mainstream comics. Furthermore, Lima has been featured on ABC’s thriller “The Family.” Up next, she will star alongside Zachary Levi and Josh Duhamel in Joe Carnahan’s adaptation of “Not Without Hope.” She is represented by Gersh and Amplified Management.
To recap, the final episode of season 20 concluded with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Nick (Scott Speedman) enjoying a positive outcome. They managed to avoid a professional predicament concerning their Alzheimer’s research with Meredith’s sister Amelia (Caterina Scorsone). Excitingly, Meredith informed Nick that she had made an offer on a house situated near Boston for them and their children to establish a new home together.
The storyline reveals that Ellen Pompeo will appear in several upcoming episodes of the long-running primetime medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” when it returns for its 21st season. After taking a break to work on her new Hulu series, “Natalia,” which is based on the true story of Natalia Grace, Pompeo will reprise her role as Dr. Meredith Grey and also continue serving as the show’s main narrator. Viewers can expect to see Pompeo in at least seven episodes.
In a recent chat with THR, Rhimes discussed her ongoing role in the series, now led by showrunner Meg Marinis, as well as some future strategies. “As for when it’ll wrap up? I’m not sure,” she hinted playfully.
