- Ford debuts Bronco New Energy EV and PHEV exclusively in China
- EV model has 105-kWh battery with 403-mile WLTP range; PHEV offers 136-mile EV range
- May preview future electrified Bronco models for the U.S. market
Ford has introduced a fresh member for its Bronco lineup, tailored specifically for the Chinese market. This new model goes by the name Bronco New Energy. It offers two electrified options: one is completely electric, boasting a 105-kWh battery, and the other is a plug-in hybrid, which combines a 44-kWh battery with a gasoline engine acting as an auxiliary power source.
This electric version (EV) claims to run for approximately 403 miles on a single charge according to the WLTP test, while its plug-in hybrid counterpart (PHEV) provides around 136 miles of pure electric driving. Additionally, with a full tank and charge, the PHEV can potentially go up to 800 miles. Although specific details are still scarce, predictions suggest that the vehicle will include all-wheel drive capabilities and additional off-road features.
Scheduled for release in China by the end of the year, this new vehicle might serve as a precursor to potential hybrid or electric versions destined for the American market, since Ford has not yet introduced electrified options for its U.S. Bronco lineup.
