Former Avex USA CEO Naoki Osada Launches Global Venture Nebula17

Previously serving as the CEO of Avex’s U.S. branch, Naoki Osada, a former executive from Japan’s prominent entertainment company, has initiated a fresh worldwide creative project called Nebula17.

On Tuesday, the company unveiled its role as a comprehensive “creative hub,” encompassing label, publishing, management, international planning, and venture capital all in one building. Nebula17 is designed to nurture American talent while also providing a platform for Japanese artists seeking to enter the U.S. and worldwide markets.

Or more informally: Starting Tuesday, this company has taken on the task of being a one-stop creative “hub,” combining label, publishing, management, international strategy, and venture capital under one roof. Nebula17 is set up to foster American talent while also acting as a stepping stone for Japanese artists aiming to break into the U.S. and global scenes.

Independent Japanese rapper Awich is now collaborating with Nebula17, while content creator Marcus Munroe is contributing to the enterprise from a publishing perspective. Additionally, Nebula17 took part in an initial funding round for Indify, a platform designed to link independent musicians with record labels.

Now is the ideal moment to actualize this idea. The globe is now receptive to these unique voices, and Nebula17 stands ready to boost their volume through strategic A&R, global management proficiency, and an innovative mindset,” Osada stated. Prior to founding Nebula17, Osada spent more than two decades at Avex, one of Japan’s leading music labels, during which time he played a significant role in expanding the company into international markets by heading its U.S. division.

The aim is to construct a link connecting Japanese culture with the worldwide mainstream, one artist after another, supported by leading American artists and entrepreneurs,” he explained further.

Osada’s business has been supported by a collection of strategic investors, with Akatsuki Inc., a notable Japanese entertainment firm, taking the lead through their executive team members Kazuhiko Ishikura (Director, EVP, CFO, and CSO). Other significant contributors include Sky-Hi’s management company BSMG, Asobisystem, and Awich’s management and music. Angel investors joining in are entrepreneur Paul Bragiel, the co-founders of crypto-focused VC Decima Fund, and high-ranking executives from gaming and Web3 company Gumi.

Nebula17 intends to establish a creative center, specifically a home-based recording studio, in the heart of West Hollywood. This space will serve as a vibrant hub, fostering songwriting and nurturing emerging artists.
