Former British Vogue Chief Eyes September For Launch of New Print Magazine, Platform

Approximately three months following the announcement by Edward and Akua Enninful of their new global media and entertainment business, EE72, they’ve shared particulars regarding the undertaking – unveiling plans for a quarterly printed magazine and a digital platform.

Set to debut in September, the new platform will be called EE72, while its accompanying magazine will be named 72 Magazine. Both aim to push cultural boundaries by presenting groundbreaking images and stories that transcend typical media limitations, with a particular focus on the intersection of fashion, beauty, luxury, and culture, as stated by the Enninfuls. The objective appears to be merging the classic appeal of print with the energy of digital content, offering coverage of leading creative figures, undoubtedly utilizing Edward Enninful’s extensive network of A-list celebrities, designers, and artists amassed over years spent in the fashion and media industry, including his tenures at British Vogue and as European editorial director for Vogue.

EE72’s platform will be steered by Simone Oliver, who has been appointed as the head of content. Joining the team is Sarah Harris, who takes on the role of Editorial Director, overseeing both the magazine and digital platform. The creative vision for the mag will be guided by Lee Swillingham and Stuart Spalding from Suburbia. Edward Enninful serves as co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, while Akua Enninful holds the position of co-founder and CEO.

Upon establishing our media and entertainment business, we were determined to create EE72 as a multi-faceted platform, centered around 72 Magazine, which would serve as its foundation. Our goal was to gather top-tier teams who could innovate and produce groundbreaking narratives and content. This launch of our dedicated publication is a testament to our mission to promote creative authenticity and teamwork.

On Instagram, Oliver presents herself as a seasoned media professional, a storyteller, brand developer, and creative strategist. With over two decades of experience under her belt, she’s worked at esteemed organizations like The New York Times, Refinery29, Meta, Condé Nast’s Allure, and BET. In the past, she was an adjunct professor at Syracuse University’s Newhouse NYC program, and at present, she’s a member of the advisory board for NYU’s Center for Publishing and Media.

Previously, Harris held a significant position as Editor-at-Large at British Vogue, working alongside Edward Enninful. Over the course of more than two decades, she assumed various roles within this publication, including Fashion Features Director, Global Network Lead, and Deputy Editor. Having earned a degree in fashion journalism from the London College of Fashion, Harris boasts experience with publications such as Tatler, Women’s Wear Daily, and W in London. Additionally, she has partnered with high-profile brands like Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Prada, Fendi, and Ralph Lauren.

Swillingham and Spalding are the founders of the creative agency Suburbia, based in London. They collaborated closely with Enninful during his time at British Vogue as they served as creative directors. More recently, they were in charge at Harper’s Bazaar Italia. Their portfolios boast notable projects from The Face magazine in the past and guiding Pop and Love magazines. Currently, Swillingham is a co-curator of the exhibition The Face Magazine: Culture Shift, on display at London’s National Portrait Gallery.

Edward Enninful’s involvement with the EE72 project arrives amidst a momentous week for him. He collaborated with Moncler, alongside its chairman and CEO Remo Ruffini, to select celebrities who wore custom Moncler designs at the Met Gala. The illustrious list includes Serena Williams, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, Vittoria Ceretti, Fei Fei Sun, Colin Kaepernick, and Nessa Diab.

Edward Enninful played a key role in transforming Moncler styles, making puffer jackets suitable for evening events. This signaled an upcoming collaboration between the two parties. Additionally, the worldwide launch of Moncler x EE72, a collection designed by Edward Enninful, is set for September.
