Former Spotify Executive Jeremy Erlich Unveils New Company Alta Music Group

Nine months following his departure from Spotify, the well-known music executive Jeremy Erlich unveiled his new venture – the establishment of an independent music company named Alta Music Group, which was officially launched on Thursday.

Located in Los Angeles, the multifaceted company, Alta, will encompass music recording, publishing, and management divisions. The renowned artist Jennie from Blackpink, who debuted her solo album “Ruby” via Columbia Records in March, has been confirmed as Alta’s initial management client.

Alta is collaborating with Sony’s music distribution branch, The Orchard, for distribution purposes, and they have also formed an alliance with TheBlackLabel, a firm established by renowned producer Teddy Park.

In his announcement about his new company, Erlich expressed that its mission has always been to aid artists globally to thrive for the long term. He added that ALTA presents a unique chance to make this happen, assembling an exceptional team dedicated solely to supporting artists and their music. According to him, everything else is secondary. He expressed his gratitude towards the artists and executives who have already shown faith in him and his company.

As a devoted admirer, let me share some insights about the remarkable journey of Erlich Bachman. Prior to unleashing Alta, he held the prestigious position of Global Head of Music at Spotify, one of the most influential figures in the world’s leading music streaming platform. He embarked on this exciting adventure with Spotify in 2019, initially taking up the role of VP and Head of Music Strategy. His exceptional contributions led to his promotion as Global Head of Music in 2021. Before Spotify, Erlich had already made a name for himself as an executive at Universal Music Group and its Interscope Geffen A&M affiliate.

Jeremy’s move to establish ALTA Music Group demonstrates his entrepreneurial drive, extensive knowledge about the international music market, and dedication towards nurturing artists,” Brad Navin, Head of The Orchard, remarked in a statement. “His focus on artists mirrors The Orchard’s goal to bolster creators. We are honored to collaborate with ALTA, utilizing our global distribution system and extensive range of services to help their talent reach global audiences and explore fresh paths for achievement.

Erlich is launching Alta with a group of experienced leaders, some of whom have backgrounds within the Interscope organization. This team includes Nima Khalilian, Parker Ulry, Drake Hofer, Elise Eriksen, Gillian Taugher, and Michael Seltzer. Notably, Nima Khalilan, who is now listed as the General Manager at Alta on his LinkedIn profile, previously held the position of head of international marketing and strategy at Stem, and prior to that, spent six years working at Interscope.

Ulrich worked for six years as an executive in digital product management at Interscope, whereas Seltzer joins Alta following a significant portion of his career spent at UMG, where he served as the EVP of business and legal affairs and oversaw commercial transactions as their head.

ALTA aims to put artists first and guide them through an industry that’s constantly changing, using a well-thought-out approach,” Khalilian stated. “I feel privileged to collaborate with Jeremy as we create a company that values artistic creativity and worldwide influence above all. Our goal is to be the ideal partners for artists, helping them establish an enduring legacy.
