As a gamer who has been following and playing Fortnite since its inception, it feels like a heartbreaking rollercoaster ride with every new season. The latest Chapter 5 Season 4 has once again proven that we can’t have nice things for long.
As a long-time Fortnite player, I must say that it feels like a constant struggle to enjoy the game anymore. It seems as though each new season brings about the weakening of my favorite weapons, leaving me feeling frustrated and disappointed. The latest Chapter 5 Season 4 has been no exception, with the best weapons being nerfed almost immediately upon release. It’s like a Thanos-inspired snap to our fun! I can’t help but wonder if Epic Games is trying to drive us away from the game altogether. It’s disheartening to see my favorite items become less effective, especially after just getting used to them. As someone who has spent countless hours playing this game, it’s a real bummer to see the enjoyment being gradually taken away.
As a devoted fan, I always look forward to the thrill of discovering how quickly Epic Games will fine-tune the latest game features with each new season. You may recall the tumultuous Chapter 5 Season 3, where the cars and Nitro Fists underwent a relentless dance between nerfing and buffing. The Magneto Gloves stand out as one of the most despised items in our collective memory.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 nerfs its Marvel Mythics
Reduced Fuel Efficiency for War Machine’s Hover Jets: Boosting now consumes more fuel, lasts a bit longer, but is available for fewer uses, and the speed during boost has been diminished.

In a twist that was somewhat predictable, developers of Fortnite have made significant adjustments (nerfs) to the power levels of the C5S4 Marvel Mythic items. Those who prefer the more grounded gameplay of Call of Duty might find these additions like jet packs, Doctor Doom’s gauntlets, and Captain America’s shield out of place. If such elements are not your cup of tea, it may be best to explore other games instead.
In the August 20th update, Captain America’s shield saw a decrease in spawn rates, particularly its occurrence in Rare chests dropping by approximately 54%. Additionally, the homing lock radius accuracy was lessened by 40%, and the initial hit damage decreased from 60 to 50.
The update appeared to make a difference, possibly preventing players from perpetually sheltering behind their shield and blocking attacks. However, this was merely the initial round of adjustments. The rate at which War Machine unleashes its lethal rocket barrage has been significantly slowed down, with reload time increasing from three to six seconds. Additionally, the damage it inflicts on the environment decreased from 100 to 80.
As I wrap up my gaming session, I noticed some changes to War Machine’s Hover Jets – they now consume more fuel during boosts, reducing my speed, and the reload time has been extended. This means that relying on Captain America’s shield and a fully-loaded War Machine kit for those last circles won’t guarantee victory anymore.

Still, while some claim these nerfs are welcome, others claim Epic is taking the fun out of the sweaty season. Someone on Reddit wrote, “Nerfing items by decreasing their drop rate is the dumbest sh*t I’ve ever seen. F**k whoever at Epic for thinking it’s the right way to do it.”
1) Regarding the Hover Jets, someone commented, “I don’t understand why they’re being weakened. The changes I can accept, but really…we need more mobility options,” while another user added, “The adjustments have ruined this season. What on earth are the developers doing? This season was a blast on the first day and they’ve ruined it.”
It’s clear that Epic Games acknowledges that it’s impossible to please everyone, yet with so many Marvel Mythics and corresponding nerfs, it seems like they’ve lost sight of maintaining balance in the game. Some players even claim that weapons are practically useless this season, leading to concerns that the developers may have overstepped with their focus on Marvel-related content.
