As a gamer with years of experience in virtual worlds and countless hours spent navigating through digital landscapes, I can’t help but feel a pang of reality when hearing about the tragic loss of Johnny Wactor. The news of his senseless murder hits home because, just like many of us gamers, he was living his life, working hard, and making his mark in the world – whether it be on the silver screen or in our favorite soap operas.
On Monday, it was announced by LA County District Attorney George Gascón that four individuals are facing charges in connection with the death of actor Johnny Wactor, who was known for his role on General Hospital.
Actor Brandon, who was 37 years old, met his end after being fatally shot on May 25, as he was making his way to his car following a bartending shift in downtown Los Angeles. Notably, this talented individual portrayed the character Brando Corbin on the popular daytime soap opera “General Hospital” from 2020 to 2022. Over the course of these years, he featured in an impressive 164 episodes of the long-running ABC series.
Four individuals, including Robert Barceleau (aged 18), Leonel Gutierrez (aged 18), Sergio Estrada (aged 18) and Frank Olano (aged 22), were taken into custody on Thursday. The district attorney, Gascón, revealed their charges to the public today.
According to reports in May, Wactor encountered the individuals who were suspected of attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a car.
Barceleau faces charges for murder (under aggravated circumstances due to a robbery allegation), attempted robbery, and grand theft. In case of conviction, he may face a sentence of life imprisonment and remains in custody without the option of bail at present.
In my case, I found myself facing some serious charges, including murder, no ifs or buts about it; attempted robbery, and grand theft.
Gutierrez faced charges for an attempted robbery and embezzlement by fraud; meanwhile, Olano was accused of aiding in the cover-up of a murder and possessing illegally obtained goods.
All suspects’ charges included allegations that they were armed with a firearm.
“Karen Bass, the L.A. mayor, expressed gratitude towards the LAPD for their work and collaboration during the investigation, as well as their ongoing commitment to ensuring Angelenos’ safety and delivering justice to victims of violence. She emphasized the need for persistent action to secure our city, stating that those who perpetrate crimes should face full accountability for their actions.”
