As a dedicated fan, I am utterly thrilled about the upcoming drama series, “Billionaire Apocalypse.” The fact that Jay Carson, the brilliant mind behind Apple+’s Emmy-nominated “The Morning Show,” is at the helm fills me with immense anticipation.
On Sunday evening, Fox announced they are working on a new drama series called “Billionaire Apocalypse.” This show is being created by Jay Carson, known for his work on “The Morning Show,” and features Hugh Jackman as one of the executive producers.
The drama hails from Fox Entertainment Studios for the Fox network. It is penned and overseen by Carson, who is known for creating and writing the Emmy-nominated series on Apple+, The Morning Show. Furthermore, Lawrence Bender (Flesh and Bone, Pulp Fiction) and Kevin Brown (Flesh and Bone, Trumbo) are also involved as executive producers.
“In a drama setting, when a worldwide economic crash occurs, the wealthiest individual on Earth, accompanied by 200 employees and his family, is compelled to seek refuge on his secluded island. Once there, they soon discover that his wealth has vanished, stripping him of power, and the employees and relatives—who had long been neglected—grasp this new reality.
The project we’ve secured a script commitment for is currently being disseminated globally by Fox Entertainment Global. At this point, no actors have been assigned to it.
Beyond his work on the Morning Show, Carson has also held roles such as a supervising producer for Netflix’s initial series, the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated House of Cards. At present, he is engaged in developing and scripting numerous movies and television programs. Among these projects are an hourlong drama featuring Judith Light, a feature film starring and helmed by Josh Brolin, as well as another undertaking with Jackman.
Prior to embarking on his Hollywood journey, Carson gained experience in government and politics. This included supporting Sen. Chuck Schumer during his initial U.S. Senate bid in 1998 and Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign. He also served as the press secretary for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. While working for Daschle, he was among approximately 20 individuals who contracted anthrax during the 2001 anthrax attacks on the Capitol. Additionally, he held roles as President Bill Clinton’s communications director and Hillary Clinton’s press secretary during her first presidential campaign.
Bender has created films that have earned a total of 37 Oscar nominations and won nine, with notable titles like “Pulp Fiction”, “Inglorious Bastards”, “Good Will Hunting”, and “An Inconvenient Truth”. Other film projects feature Idris Elba and Regina King in “The Harder They Fall”, Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge”, Martin Scorsese’s “Silence”, Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill: Volume 1” and “Volume 2”, as well as “Reservoir Dogs”. The star-studded cast of “The Mexican” includes Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. Additional credits include Anna and the King, with Jodie Foster and Chow Yun Fat, and Robert Rodriguez’s “From Dusk Till Dawn”. In television, Bender’s work is seen in A&E’s “The Chicano Squad”, CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico”, the Emmy-winning series “Seven Seconds” on Netflix, and the Golden Globe-nominated “Flesh and Bone” on Starz.
Brown has created around two dozen television and movie projects such as “Flesh and Bone,” “Seven Seconds,” HBO’s “The Soul of the Game,” and the Academy Award-nominated production “Trumbo.
