I remember clearly that fateful Sunday afternoon when the unexpected announcement from the president came through my social media feed at around 1:45 p.m. ET. As a dedicated consumer of cable news, I was glued to my television set, eagerly awaiting the latest developments.
Between 2 and 4 p.m. Eastern Time, approximately 9.27 million people tuned in to watch Biden’s announcement on ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC based on initial Nielsen ratings data. The viewership numbers for NBC weren’t yet released but are expected to bring the combined total from all six networks above 10 million viewers.
During the 2-4 p.m. time slot, Fox News drew the largest audience with approximately 3.2 million viewers.
